I wrote this song a couple of years ago when I realized that so many people are glad that the year ends , thinking that the new year will somehow be better. It happens EVERY YEAR , which means that every year brings good times and bad. So, that's what this songs is about..........doing the same thing over and over and thinking that things will get better. Now don't get the impression that I think that's a bad thing. It's just an observation about human behavior. I enjoyed having some Christmas songs in the background at times in this song. By the way, I hope you all have a wonderful holiday.

THE CHRISTMAS TREE IS TAKEN DOWN, THE GIFTS ALL PUT AWAY
THE YEAR IS FINALLY OVER, WITH A NEW ONE ON THE WAY
WE HAD GOOD TIMES AND BAD TIMES...JUST LIKE EVERY YEAR
SO WHY DO FOLKS THINK BETTER TIMES WILL COME WITH THIS NEW YEAR
THE DECORATIONS EVERYWHERE THAT MADE OUR HOMES SO NICE
THE KNICKKNACKS AND THE CHRISTMAS WREATH, THE OUTSIDE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
THEY'RE TAKEN DOWN AND ALL BOXED UP TO WAIT A YEAR AND THEN
WE'LL TAKE 'EM OUT AND SET "EM UP FOR CHRISTMAS ONCE AGAIN
YEAH THE CHRISTMAS TREE IS TAKEN DOWN AND FOLKS THINK THINGS WILL CHANGE
BUT A NEW YEAR DOESN'T CHANGE A THING SO THINGS REMAIN THE SAME
IT'S LIKE GROUNDHOG DAY, YEAR AFTER YEAR...WITH HABITS WE CAN'T BREAK
SO THE RESOLUTIONS DISAPPEAR AND LEAVE US IN THEIR WAKE
