Okay, so I'm trying something new to me. I'm creating MIDI files from songs out of a Christmas book for students to practice with. I've got some weirdness happening, no idea why.

I enter the notes of two different piano parts, one is the student part, the melody, and the second part is the teacher accompaniment. I've now got two MIDI files. I double-click on the accompaniment part, which opens as a BIAB file(BIAB is the default program to handle .mid files). This brings the notes/chords into a new song, and figures out the chord names. So far, so good. I move this accompaniment part to Utility #1.

Now I go to File-->Import-->Import Melody From MIDI File. I pointed the MIDI file to the Melody track. This seems to work. I've got the accompaniment with an Electric Piano MIDI sound, and the melody as a Grand Piano sound. However, the melody seems to have a problem. Every note on beat 3 that is a quarter note is cut staccato. I've looked in Piano Roll, Audio Edit, Notation, and all of the notes look the same, no reason for particular ones to be cut short.

I created the MIDI files in Finale. Sounded fine in Finale. What is up with my MIDI file? Why doesn't BIAB read it correctly?
