Thanks for the ears folks.
I tried any/all suggestions and kept the ones from Marty, (offline), regarding intro tone as well as solo structure and BD regarding the FX riddled third verse & the hihat.

Ray, I didn't get a chance to get in on the WIP version, so I'm listening to this "fresh"...really creative work! Everything is nicely balanced, and the rhythm/drive is consistent throughout. I esp liked Terry's sparse lyric. And I liked the "telephone" effect. Enjoyed my time with this!

Nice adjustments all the way around, Ray. Very clear mix, like the placement of the vocals a lot. The "radio vocals" and the ending turned out nice, too. Super stuff!

Mastering made this Pop.
Everything sounds good. Bass (especially), drums, organ (nice!), guitars, vocals.
Everything has "its spot and space'. And blended.

The beat is infectious. It "keeps ya in the song" start to finish.
VERY Solid track.

A cool "vintage" sound (the blend of the instruments and the mastering). Like it's off a record we all grew up with.
Very Cool Music.

A strong bass like this elevates any song, and this one was already high in value. I especially love that "climbing up the stairs" part of the music. That organ makes an important statement, and phrases it so well. Man, this one has my favorite vocal so far from you. The bass invites us in and the beat it creates is taken up by the whole band, and keeps the listener listening. Loved hearing the progression of this one, Ray. Thanks.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Turned out really well!
I love how the drums and bass drive the song, everything is well placed, and it's easy to follow the individual instruments and especially the vocals.

Your finished song has good gestalt. It's pro sounding with an earworm chorus. Vocals were ace. Trite to say, but yes, one of your best.

Hi Ray.

I saw your WIP post where you asked for input. Unfortunately, I'm not that good when it comes to audio work, so I avoided passing on any opinions. Unlike many on this forum, I include you in that 'many', I don't have the expertise to listen to things and isolate what is right or wrong unless it is very, very obvious. I suspect that this is why mixing a song takes me such a long time. My ears are also getting pretty old these days, and I don't trust them with the same confidence that I used to have.

What you have done is terrific. I love the way the bass, organ, guitar and your vocals work together to create a really solid production. Having the guitar panned right reminded me of those hits from the 60s where audio engineers only had left/right/centre to work with when panning. I'm a fan of what you've done and kudos to all those who helped smile

Ray,

This sounds really good to me! It's a clean production that to my ears, has been given a lot of TLC!
Love the bass sound/tone! very creative use of vocal effects...I love that kind of stuff!
The melodic change in the chorus is beautiful!

As I listened at the end the thought crossed my mind that it would have been worth considering a reverse cymbol/hihat crash that ends abruptly cold stop with all instruments! But hey that's just my weird thinking at work!

Enjoyed it! Take care, TB
