Can anyone help me figure out how to get BIAB to play the correct factory patches on a Kurzweil K2000?
There's a document in the "bb" folder that says to:
"Install the file K2000.DK on your system, load it into BIAB and save it as MYSETUP.DK, making it the default patch set"
but it makes no mention of how I would do any of theses things--install it, load it or save it.
Also, is there a way to mute different instruments as the song plays?
Thanks for any help.

You need to do a one time setup (assuming you want to always use these patches).
1. From Opt|Midi Audio driver setup choose the Kurzweil K2000 from the Synthesize drop down (top right)
2. On the BIAB main screen, press the + button (next to the volume spinner). Choose the Open *.Pat button and choose the K2000 as the patch.
You are set. If you want to assign K2000 patches to a part, click on that part and press the + button. Choose your patch. The patch should get saved with the song.
To mute, use the Bar Settings (F5) at the bar of choice. Setting are in each part to mute/unmute.

I've done this several times, and it sends the patch I choose correctly, but as soon as I play the song the patch changes to a patch number unrelated to the number I chose, and to general MIDI, for that matter.
For example, I chose the K2000 patch #2--Stereo Grand, and saw the K2 screen for that channel go to that patch. As soon as I hit the play button, it changed to patch 91. Can anyone explain what's going on and how to fix it?

It sounds like there is a patch change imbedded in your midi file. Use a midi editor to remove that patch change. If you don’t know how just upload the midi file and I will look at it for you.
OK, a random thought; Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?
64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware

Mario:
Sorry to be dense, but what MIDI file? Does BIAB create a MIDI file as soon as it starts to play.
Well, actually, that sounds like it's probably true, now that I think of it. Excuse me, but I'm brand new to BB.
Where would I find the MIDI file? You wouldn't have to look at it. I can bring it into Sonar and see for myself.
I don't think that's it though. This happens as soon as I begin a new song. Since the K2000 is not set up for General MIDI, when I open one of the songs that came with the software, it sends out all these GM patch changes, and they make no sense either.

OK, I think I just figured this out.
Rachael was on the right track, she just left out one step: I had to go to the Instrument dropdown and select "No Patch Change" for each instrument.
I saved the song as a template, but it turns out that I didn't even need to do that. Now if I open a new song, I get the same sounds and all the instruments are set to No Patch Change. Even when I closed the program and re open it, the settings are the same.
What a relief. I've been buried in this for a day and a half.
Thanks to both of you guys for the suggestions.

Actually what you want to do is go to : opt/preferences/MIDI options and uncheck "style patch changes" The styles have patches in them so when you restart the song the style will assign the patches that were assigned to it when created.
