Hi!

I've tried a couple of times to understand the stylemaker, but always had to give up quite soon. So I'll try again now, and I'd need some help on this. For now, I only want to create 2 very simple styles which only contain 1 A-8beat-pattern for the piano (no drums etc.):

Style 1:
Plays the deepest resp. almost deepest root on the piano (e.g. for a C-Chord: the deepest Note c on an 88-keys-piano; for an A-Chord: the second deepest Note a on an 88-keys-piano).
My problem here: It would work if it would have to play middle c or if it would have to play one c below middle c. But if I define that it should play any lower c, it still plays the c below middle c. So it ignores that I want a very low c to be played.

Style 2:
Plays the 1, 7, 3, 5 of the chord (in this order; e.g.: C3, B3, E4, G4 for a CMaj7 chord), but puts out the 1 and the 7 onto Channel 8 and the 3 and the 5 onto Channel 9. (I want to do this so that I can later do an automatic logical hand seperation when exporting to midi, instead of one that splits hands simply by a fixed splitpoint)
My problem here: The channel can be toggled in the note-window of the style maker, but whatever I choose there, it doesn't save that. So if I choose channel 8 for a specific note, then save the style and then re-open the style-editor, it still has Channel 1 as the output Channel.

So how can I solve those problems, what am I doing wrong or what might I simply not understand about how the stylemaker works?

What MIDI software synth do you? The limitations of the synth can also effect the lowest pitch that's playable. To find this, load your synth, set it to piano and then enter notes in Piano Roll or notation editor. You'll soon find the lowest pitch note that's available on the piano sound.

Hi Noel!
I didn't insert the note via a midi keyboard, I inserted them by clicking onto the staff. Then I right-clicked onto the just inserted note to toggled the note characteristics in the according window.

My apologies for not explaining myself well enough. I wasn't referring to a MIDI keyboard but a software synthesizer. It's possible that the software synthesizer that plays the sounds of the notes on the music stafff doesn't go as low as you want. When you changed the pitch of the note using note characteristics to C1 or C0 did you test the note to see if it played? It will probably play on some synths and not on others.

Noel,
ah - ok, I just checked, the Computer gives me the sound of a low note when I enter it into the piano roll for a song. So that's not the cause here.

@Dan: Kudos Dan - you only have 24 hours per day and you decide to spend your time with such superfluous comments in a web forum.

Maybe the low notes get auto corrected by BiaB. In Options -> Preferences -> Arrangement there are settings for lowest bass note (E2 for default) and preventing too low guitar notes. Have a look at these options. I'm not 100% sure, but there could be similar options in style maker preferences too.

Hey Alex,

I have found something like that via the fretboard window, and that problem seems to be solved now. Thanks for your tip!

So still open is the question why the channel can't be effectively defined in the style maker, although the window for a note has an option for toggeling that.
