WE CAN'T WALK THIS ROAD ALONE By David Snyder https://soundcloud.com/david-snyder-gigs4/we-cant-walk-this-road-aloneSo, a few nights ago I had a horrible Christmas nightmare and I dreamed the world was being taken over by AI songs and AI songwriting robots in Nashville, LA and New York. I wanted to shoot myself. Then I was visited by the Ghost of Christmas Bono. I said, "Bono man this terrible. I don’t want to live anymore. I don’t even want to live to Christmas Day." He said: “Do you have one acoustic guitar?” I said, “Yes. Actually ten, but yes.” He said: “Do you have one electric guitar and four chords?” I said: “Yes. Well eight, but yes. And seven chords.” He said: “Do you have at least one piano, one synth, and one voice, and one copy of Band-in-a-Box?” I said: “Yes.” He said. “One. All you need is one. Because we are one love, one blood, one life, you got to do what you should, One life with each other, Sisters, brothers, One life, but we're not the same, We get to carry each other, carry each other. Got it?” I said: “Bono, I got it man. Thank you Christmas Spirit.” The next morning, this song came into my head. I sat down at the piano and played what I heard in my head one time all the way through, and sang along, recording it. I kept the piano as is from that first take, re-did the vocals, and played everything else except for a few real tracks. No AI robots were injured in the recording of this song. Merry Christmas. This is probably my last song of the year. WE CAN'T WALK THIS ROAD ALONE Words and music by David Snyder https://soundcloud.com/david-snyder-gigs4/we-cant-walk-this-road-alone V1 In every dream I've ever had In every hope I've ever known My heart just ached to see I wasn't on this road alone And when I look around I see a billion lonely eyes All these people that I see They're still looking for their home PC We might have a different heaven We might believe in different things We might pray to different gods But one thing makes us all the same CH At one time we closed our eyes Just before we fell sleep We dreamed of someone we could trust Just one love that we could keep So when the world falls all apart There’ll be someone we can hold And it's been that way forever Cause we can't walk this road alone V2 I’ve taken three shots to the heart Almost each and every day Been attacked in mind and soul They tell me life is just that way PC Some can't stand to see the morning They say it brings them too much pain Some say the same about the sundown But one thing makes us all the same CH At one time we closed our eyes Just before we fell sleep We dreamed of someone we could trust Just one love that we could keep So when the world falls all apart There’ll be someone we can hold And it's been that way forever Cause we can't walk this road alone we can't walk this road alone All music and lyrics copyright 2025 by David Snyder ASCAP/Day of Faith Records David Snyder: Vocals, piano, acoustic and electric guitars (Taylor, Telecaster), synth, strings, addition instrumentation, mixing mastering, production. Geez, David, this is BEAUTIFUL. Beautiful and THE TRUTH. Cool dynamic flow, glorious production, impassioned vocals. I'd say this should be on the radio, but who listens to radio anymore? Too good for the radio anyway. This should be playing from rooftop speakers on every car in every town and emblazoned above by skywriters. It's really good. I like it a lot.

David, excellent work. I'm amazed at what a "pro" can do with so little after-recording tinkering..you have real talent! The lyric fit so nicely with the feel of the music and your vocal approach. And I liked how you let the sonic landscape "rise" from intimate to full-on. Great job!

Hi David! Yeah - lot’s of feeling in this. I love the repeating nature of the chord sequences, so that when there is a change, it gives a good tension-and-release feeling to it, aided well by the heartfelt and emotional vocal.
To me, this sounded like the closing song of a Christmas movie where the circumstances, joy, loss, love, loneliness, separation, beauty of all the characters stories intertwine and climax with an understanding that they all need each other, no matter how broken each of them are.
Well done. Andrew

Man, you sound just like one of my favorite singers on Soundcloud. Wait. You are. Great dream, David, and an absolutely wonderful waking result. 10 acoustic guitars, huh? Well, not counting the hundreds you can add from BiaB. Emotion rings with every syllable. Love that piano!! You were inspired, then became very inspiring.

Dacvid,
Good write. Cool, impassioned vocal. Your piano works nicely.
This has a great "captured live in the studio" sound.
Cool song.

David,
Great story and song to follow with! It's like Springsteen found an old Ray Charles classic and brought it into the future. Love the soulful vocal full of emotion! That piano surely drives the song in a powerful way! David, you are the heart and soul of this forum community Wishing you and yours a very merry CHRISTmas!
Take care, TB

Big song David, sung with great gusto and passion.
I hear the comparison to Van Morrison, but maybe also some of Bruce Springsteen in there too. Great work, kind regards

Hi, David. Pretty good, but I ran it through Suno, and the results are amazing! You should jump on this technology train before you get left behind! I kid. Your write-ups are almost as good as your songs. Almost. Good write, good song, passionate vocal. As Robert said, That's how it's done.

Wow, this is really heavy stuff, John Lennon with a stronger substance (called D.Snyder). Lyrics really hit my heart, I really enjoyed "So when the world falls all apart/There’ll be someone we can hold/And it's been that way forever/Cause we can't walk this road alone", great majestic title. Pleasantly classic sounding chord progression. The piano and your voice are the cornerstones of this epic ballad, hope it reaches Christmas Number One all around the world. Glad that you shared your nightmare and told how the ghost inspired you.

David, you are a master of many instruments and genres. Man those lyrics are some of the best I have heard in a long time. "And when I look around - I see a billion lonely eyes" this line is so true today. Great vocal and mix Loved it
PS - On a side note I had a similar nightmare. Bono came to me also and said AI will never overtake you because you have 6 strings, 3 chords, and a beer!

Hi David.
I listened to this song on Soundcloud quite a while ago, and I've just realised that I never commented here. My apologies. This is such a great song with such a great message. These lyrics are superb and you've captured one of Life's big universal themes extraordinarily well. It is impossible not to relate to what you've written and the soul with which you've sung. You've truly hit this ball out of the park for a home run. I was with you all the way.
Highly enjoyable listening. --Noel

Hi mr. Snyder,
Like, I think, all others wrote here; great lyrics and passionately sung! Were you hoarse afterwards?
I liked your intro here to present your song. Very nice, cool and... with a very nice message! I think Noel, above here, wrote it very well. And Janne too, and Janice and Bud, and, and
But I can't say I enjoyed. My heart had to cry... Hans
