Hi Chay!
I find it interesting that the vocal helps accentuate the instrumental sections - giving them more prominence as it were - whereas when it’s all instrumental, some parts aren’t as distinct because one section flows into another - which is good in itself. That’s how it came across to my ears anyway. The vocal sections also ‘anchored’ the song by returning to the familiar vocals.

Lucy’s vocal is very good, albeit subdued due to the pitch of the melody she was singing - I felt sometimes I really wanted to hear her ‘let it rip’ by singing a higher melody line, but that probably wasn’t what you were seeking.

A great listen - you’ve been teasing us with this for a while, while we wait for the instrumental version to drop off the ‘chart’.

I think I've told you this before, but I'm always amazed at how well vocals work with your songs and make them so much more interesting.

Hi Chay.

Your compositions and their arrangements always intrigue me in the very best way possible. You have a wonderful ability to segue from instrument to instrument and to create a musical journey that shines with musicianship, musicality and keeps the listener thoroughly engaged. Lucy's vocals were a perfect fit and really lifted what was already a superb creation. I really enjoyed this a great deal.

Chay, glorious build and beautiful, sophisticated arrangement. Each section transitions seamlessly into the next in interesting ways. Love the outro. Very nice vocals by Lucy. Might want to level the vocals a smidge as they were a bit buried around 2:00 to my ears. Lovely song with a cool Holiday interpretation.

The vocal wasn't all that exciting, but it helped to frame your instrumental parts and really breathe some life into them. So it was worthwhile overall and really helped to me to appreciate what you were doing here musically. Enjoyed it.

Thanks, Andrew. Lucy being Argentinean wasn't familiar with the "Twinkle, Twinkle" lullaby and her vocals pretty much followed my demo, which was sung in hushed tones so as to not get banging on my wall. When I've sung the song without recording and thus not fearful of complaints spoiling it I hit higher notes here and there which I expected Lucy to do as I'd also given her YT links to the sung lullaby. I've now done a rock version with different instrumentation and I used both my demo and Lucy's vocals together and they match perfectly except in one verse where she sings "lull-a-by" and I sing "lullaby", so as I really like the new version and me and Lucy singing together I need to sing it louder and I'm happy to pay Lucy again for a louder take with some higher notes hit. Based on the very rare opportunities to record vocals it probably won't be done until late January at best. It's so frustrating when it's sung songs I now want to be doing. Even where I need a female vocal I've still got to record a demo first and that's so hard where I live.

Thanks, B.D.! So long as I can get recording time there'll be more sung songs to come. For a few weeks I've had 2 chord structure experiments in the works, but I've just not been inspired re what instrumentation to give them, so I've no new instrumentals in the pipeline.

Much appreciated, Ron. I just compared the db levels of the vocals as later on they're louder as there's more instrumentation behind them, and you're correct as the section you mentioned is the same volume level as the 1st verse, but the harps come in at the same time, so they could be 0.1 or 0.2db lourder.

Hi Chay,

That little bit of vocal in there really brings the song, which is extremely well constructed and works well as an instrumental, to life. Adds that extra little bit of spice to kick things up a notch or two.

Good stuff, enjoyed!

WaoBand,

This is a beautifully crafted song! I liked the gradual build-up of the instrumentation on the intro! The violin is a perfect choice to fill in where needed! The vocal is such a lovely part of the arrangement! You have certainly delivered a very polished pro sound here! The production/mixing/mastering sounds excellent to me!
Thanks, TB

Thanks, Dave. The rock version, which I think I mentioned somewhere above, just has lead guitar solos between the verses (2 styles interchanging) and now that I've listened to the demo a few times I prefer it to this version!

Thanks a lot, Torrey! I'm pleased with the sound of all of my posts, but none of them are mastered as I don't have enough room left on my PC for more programs. The only one I've tried is Soren AI Mastering, but while it can improve the sound of individual instruments - I've only used it 3 times, twice for guitar solos and once for a B3 solo - the finished product of a complete track never sounds as good as the original, despite the different settings I've tired.

To my taste a little bit too long intro, but when the vocals started and the strings joined, the song took me along to a nice ride.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
