I notice the same behavior, when testing on my PC. When the rhythm is set to 3/4 BiaB does not generate a solo, when choosing from real tracks soloists, only when choosing a midi soloist.
As some kind of quick workaround, I went to "Edit Current Style" and checked "Waltz" in the preferences tab. After saving the style with a new name, I was able to generate a real track solo. Anyway, I'm not sure if listening to it is a real pleasure. But maybe it's a starting point for further experiments.
