Yes, you are correct - can be confusing crazy.

Think of it this way, while BIAB may by default use a specific sound-sythn for some specific applications, the fact is these are all selectable by you. There are options you can choose in all cases (as best I understand). So I don't use the Coyote or Halion for routine midi playback. Instead, I set my default to Synthfont64. Why?, because I like those sounds for GM much more than any of the other options. Sforzando is not a GM sound synth but is the BIAB default for Midi Supertracks and the new Playable RTs (again as best I understand). You may not be able to change this default, but you can change any midi track to a different synth on an individual basis. I tend to just leave these play as is since they are specific to a patch and they sound good.

If you like the sounds, just leave them and BIAB will figure out what to play. But if you want to change, you generally can do that. Hope that helps.
