I missed this song when you posted it originally, and listening to it now, the title caused me to be taken by surprise. I'll explain...

When I first saw this post, I thought... "Oh. This will be lots of fun smile Janice is going to be doing three minutes of scat singing." This thought occurred to me because I was aware of just how competent Janice is at vocal improvisation and I was really looking forward to hearing it. But as I was listening, lyrics arrived. I wasn't expecting those at all. Then, before I knew it, I was listening to the hook "WHY DONCHA SCAT, SCAT, THINK ABOUT THAT". That made me smile again. The hook not only impressed me because of the lyric content but also its excellent rhythmic flow due to the internal rhyme. That was when I settled into my chair because I assumed that I'd be listening to a song with lyrics. But as a wise friend once told me a few decades ago: "Assume" makes an ašš out of u and me. In this case, that philosophy proved true, because immediately prior to recalling my friends words, Janice started scat singing. As a result, I laughed and lots of smiles and a ton of pure enjoyment came my way. (Thanks, Janice. You are incredible!)

Peter and the two of you have done an amazing job here.

The world needs more songs like this!

P.S. I used the š character because this forum's software doesn't accept the popular synonym for "donkey".

Noel, your narrative here alone made the post worthwhile.

What a cool and thought provoking response.
And the definition of assume is priceless. 😀

Thank you for your support over the years and Happy Holidays!
