Hi Bob (and Joliz)
Good one! I loved the harmonies/BVs on this one. The fact that the subject lofi girl liked Elliott Smith makes me think she had a good choice in music - melodic, emotional and vulnerable. I am wondering if she was lofi because she was just interested in getting her music down on tape to realise the idea without the search for recorded perfection, or whether this was a metaphor for her life - avoid clutter, go for the heart and not outside appearances etc.? In another way, today's perfection in recording so you can 'hear the silence' can seem empty to some, whereas the presence of the warm crackle of vinyl or hiss of tape means that even when the song ends, there is something there to fill the void. Maybe it was the loneliness?
Good music and thought-provoking lyrics - well done!
