I haven't tried it. I use BIAB not for recording work, just for listening to chords and music styles.

The buffers would be for your audio interface, commonly called a sound card. In my case it increase and decrease the buffers in my Roland Octa-Capture audio interface. I decrease them when recording so I do not get any latency and increase them for problem free listening.
