Fascinating, Noel. It's remarkable how far languages have changed and been adapted.
I noticed with interest that the word 'Gold' has never changed. It seems that somethings are treasures forever.
Trev I didn't notice that, Trev. Thanks for pointing it out. Interesting You can hear the residual effect of printers substituting the "Y" for the thorn character "Þ" in words like "You" and "Ye". These would have been pronounced as "Thou" and "Thee". There's also confusion with the "ſ" if you read old text, because it looks a lot like an "f", but has the crossbar of an "f" on the left side, but not the right. Yay typography!  That's very interesting. It's amazing how time changes things and understanding gets lost in history.
