Happy New Year everyone. I'm sure many of you can relate to the subject of this song. This song is definitely the way I feel. I recently uploaded all my songs to SUNO and I must say that I'm impressed. They're still my songs, done with BIAB (my words, chords and melody) but SUNO took it all and they all came out like professional studio recordings....with better singers than me, better musicians than me and better arrangements than what I'm capable of. It even copied BIAB parts and some of my guitar kicks. I still like my versions with BIAB, but I like to hear the other renditions. It's mind boggling. I wish everyone a wonderful new year. I WAS WALKING BY MYSELF TODAY, LISTENING TO MY SONGS AND I REALIZED THEY'RE KIND OF LIKE MY FRIENDS THEY ALL KNOW EVERYTHING I'M THINKING ALL MY FEELINGS...TIME AND TIME AGAIN IF I WRITE A SONG THAT'S WEIRD, NO PROBLEM AND NO PROBLEM, IF I WRITE A SONG THAT'S BAD I WRITE ANYTHING I WANT AND THEY DON'T JUDGE ME COULD BE THE BEST FRIENDS THIS BOY HAS EVER HAD SO MY SONGS ARE LIKE MY FRIENDS, I CAN SAY WHAT'S ON MY MIND AND SOME FOLKS HEAR 'EM EVERY NOW AND THEN BUT I WRITE 'EM JUST FOR ME, THAT'S THE WAY IT'S GOTTA BE CAUSE I'M THE ONE THAT HAS TO LIKE 'EM IN THE END AND I THINK THEY HELP ME UNDERSTAND MYSELF AND THEY HELP ME UNDERSTAND THE WORLD I SEE ALL THE TROUBLES WE GO THROUGH, ALL OUR DIFFERENT POINTS OF VIEW I SWEAR I THINK THEY HELP ME BE A BETTER ME SO AM I FOOLISH , WRITING SONGS MOST FOLKS NEVER HEAR EVEN FAMILY DOESN'T LISTEN VERY MUCH BUT I KEEP 'EM WITH ME ALL THE TIME, THEY RAMBLE 'ROUND MY MIND AND I LIKE 'EM , SO THAT'S ENOUGH CAUSE WHEN I LISTEN TO MY SONGS, THEY'RE LIKE OLD FRIENDS I LISTEN TO 'EM, I SOMETIMES SING ALONG IF THEY'RE GOOD ONES I DON'T KNOW...BUT THIS I KNOW IS SO IT'S WHAT I DO ....I WRITE SONGS AND WHEREVER I GO I TAKE THESE FRIENDS ALONG ****** Song Summary ************* Title: MY SONGS ARE LIKE MY FRIENDS File:MY SONGS ARE LIKE MY FRIENDS.SGU Key=C , Tempo 85, Length (m:s)=4:39 4 bar intro, 92 bar chorus, from bar 5 to bar 96. Hi Sol! I wondered where you’d disappeared to, but then saw you popping up on my YouTube subscription feed. You have a great knack of writing songs about what us songwriters think - well, me at least. I had a chuckle for the lines … I WAS WALKING BY MYSELF TODAY, LISTENING TO MY SONGS … EVEN FAMILY DOESN'T LISTEN VERY MUCH I sometimes look at Soundcloud Insights and wonder how much of those stats are me listening to my own songs!  As you say, songwriting is like therapy. I am sure I say things in my lyrics (okay, most oftentimes obliquely) that I may not have even shared with my wife. So in that sense, songwriting is like a psych consultation. Thank goodness they don’t charge $250 per session! A good listen! Andrew

I imagine that most of us that write songs have similar feelings. The funny thing is that my wife never seemed all that much into my songs. But since I uploaded all of them to SUNO, she's listening more. It's humbling because I'm not as good at producing songs as SUNO but then again, they make my songs sound better and I feel that I really do write good songs. BIAB helps me put it all together and SUNO finishes it. I appreciate your comments.

Laurent Thank you Laurent. I do think I spend more time with my songs than my friends. I'm either writing them or listening to them. They're not all about me but many of them are..............and it's nice to reflect on those past experiences.

I really liked this song and I definitely related to its sentiment. My songs are an important part of me - at this stage of my life, maybe the MOST important. Thanks for expressing that! I think I agree with you about maybe being the most important (excluding my fa.ily, health, surviving, etc.). Sometimes I wondering I spend too much time with them...but. Glad you liked it.
