'Woke up this morning ...' - so the song got off to a good start!
You didn't mention your singing in your post, so I really enjoyed it when I heard the singing start. As Ron said, we should hear you sing more.
I like the stepping up motif on the bass - a signature part of the song. I am assuming the guitar lead is you as well. Loved it when the organ came in for the chorus.

Man Mario… that’s bluer than a room full of sailors g-strings… and they’re navy blue!
I know that 2025 was a downer…at least geo-politically, but keep drinking that moonshine. It makes everything better!
Seriously though, it was very blue. Great little solo there. Arrangement was very cool and suited the desperate feel of the lyrics, and your vocals also added to the implied sense of desperation.
Great start to 2026, but please cheer up buddy.

'feeling down', you inject real authenticity into your latest songs and

Best from a cold UK, Carl Thanx Carl. I live west of Rochester NY near Lake Ontario. We can get over 100 inches (254 cm) of snow. We do average around 100 inches per year.Yes, I am careful. Light fluffy snow I shovel. Lots of light fluffy snow and/or wet heart attack snow I use our snowblower. Plus I have heavy duty and warm clothing when I need it.

Well, we are, as you know, LONG time blues lovers and the majority of our music is the blues.
I mention that only because we see no need to parse this song out.
It's damn good blues. Period.

Has a Blue Jean Blues vibe happening to these ears. Great feel on the guitar, and I dig your vocal too, it sounded like as the song progressed your confidence level increased.

Very atmospheric slow blues, and it's a joy to hear you sing again. I think your voice matures with age like a fine wine. I'm always impressed at how well you do using slower BPMs. My 2 slowest are 90bpm. That guitar solo was so excellent I wanted to hear more, but my only criticism is that I'd liked the song to have ended with a 2nd chorus as the single one was really good.
