Hi!

I've probably brought up this topic already a couple of years ago, but I think that it's really over time now that BiaB gets this feature:

As a Bass player, the usability of a bass tab is pretty much depending on the question if the tab has many open strings or not. Some players want open strings wherever possible, and others want to avoid them wherever possible (and btw: I think the second group is much bigger, for several reasons). And if a tab doesn't match this individual preference, a tab feels more or less just like a big mess.
So this is really the very least thing that a bass player should be able to toggle as a fretboard preference in a Music Practice Software.
And for sure, also the other notes should somehow match those preferences then - e.g. if a player chooses to tendentially avoid open strings and that means that a specific d-note is on the 5th fret of the a-string and not on the open d-string, then the preceding and the following notes should also be placed around the 5th fret, as long as possible.

There are other fretboard preferences which could be integrated, too (e.g. tendentially prefer or avoid the g-string), and in the era of AI it should not be a real big deal to add more options to choose from in this regard. And such preferences could be implemented as global preferences and additionally as song specific preferences, which would in case override the global ones.

But just in the case that you'll find it too complex then: At least a global tendentially-avoid/prefer-open-strings option should definately be integrated very soon, in my opinion.

I came to this forum in order to suggest feature improvements for non-professional musicians like myself that use BiaB mainly as a playalong tool and as a learning tool
