They aren't in many ways. The biggest is that only Windows includes RealBand (a feature-limited DAW), formerly a stand-alone product. The reasoning was that Mac users have GarageBand and that is free. Although I would like to play with RB, can't say that I'm missing out by not having it.

Mac and Win licenses are not cross-platform. To change from one OS to the other, you will purchase a cross-grade license. If you have a license for one or the other, the price for upgrading to the next year will cost less.

There are other differences but these are the big ones.
