The song title just popped into my head while I was writing this song about "me flying in a rocket, bound for something else." Normally, you'd choose "Rocketman" or something. But the song was also meant to be a euphemism for escaping this world and finding something more exciting. So, this title was the best I could come up with. A kind of disappointment in the title.

On SoundCloud:
Is this what it is? https://on.soundcloud.com/BWAqQeuv0pYQJQhVVV

On YouTube

But I didn't want to make it a sad song, so I added a violin to give it a more cheerful, Irish sound (although, Irish and cheerful???). It turned out well, though some might say I hired that crazy violist again, the one I used in one of my last songs. In a way, I did ;-).

You'll just have to listen and judge for yourself. The lyrics are available on SoundCloud and YouTube. I hope you like it, of course.

Hans,

I like your Rocket song.
"'Cause now I'm on my way to the moon
Or maybe to eternity
I think I'll know it real soon
what it's gonna be"
Cool chorus. And I like how you use BGVs there...
You always have thought provoking ideas and/or questions in your lyrics. I like that, too.

Good use of BIAB.
Both the baritone guitar and the fiddle make this a unique experience.
Enjoyed the listen.

I don't know why, but lately there seem to be quite a few people who want to leave the planet. Strange atmosphere! I really like the vibrato guitar intro and the rest of the song, it's cheerful and about leaving.

There's a lot of rocket songs: Bowie, Elton, Stevie Wonder. Now we have yours. I like the instrumentation very much. You always present something interesting with your songs, including this one. Good work!

Hi, Hans.

The song really took a different direction when the fiddle kicked in. laugh

Excellent production.

I love the ending!

Hi Hans!
This has an interesting combination of instruments - but it works! The style coupled with the fiddle partly conveys the recklessness of the trip, although completely understandable. In one sense, this is why many people are migrating to Australia to be a world away from perceived troubles - the tyranny of distance has worked in our favour in the past, but not so sure moving ahead. This is all to say the subject of your song would be very relatable to many.
Good work - it’s different but I like it!

Great guitar intro, perky fiddle and really catchy chord structure and tempo. A totally enjoyable song, but I have a really seriously serious complaint: IT'S WAY TOO SHORT! laugh

Weird and wonderful. Cool Zen-ish theme and wild accompaniment: A winning combination to my ears. Love your vocals and harmonies. The mix if first rate, too. Fantastic job, Hans!

Hi Hans.

This is very entertaining listening. I love the song and the way you've arranged it. It's easy to hear that a lot of thought and listening went in to getting the final production. The opening guitar and fiddle are great. When the fiddle started playing, it reminded me of the fiddler in Charlie Daniels Band when they played "The Devil Went Down To Georgia".

It's an easy two thumbs up from me!

Hi Hans

A really good choice of style, love the violin. Yes it’s different, but it works and works well. I have a penchant for upbeat Irish/folk music, so this really appeals to me.

Great song, kind regards.

Oh, man, Hans. This is one of the funnest (though not the funniest) songs I've heard you develop. It grew into the special sound you created here. What an excellent mix. You know how I like your vocal. Could it be a bit louder on htis one? Hey, if you build that rocket, please make it big enough for all of us. Violin with an Irish lilt. Yeah, that fuels the rocket nicely.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hans,

Wow! Superb! A great song. That combination of baritone guitar and fiddle are a striking pair. They really drive the song and give it an urgent feel.

LOVE your vocal. You have great tone and it sits in the mix perfectly here.

Everything about this one is excellent!

Spaghetti Western meets Ireland - you had me right from the intro, Hans.
I really like the story, as well as the way you tell it.
Who wouldn't be tempted to just leave this mess of a planet behind?
Very good production (your new studio seems to be paying off) and really good vocals.

Hi Floyd, Laurent, Rob, David C, Andrew and Chay,

Thank you all for your very nice comments on the "Rocketsong" (It's easier to call it this way than using the original title everytime. Like Floyd did).
I was a bit afraid some of you would get goosebombs from that crazy violist, but no one did! That's what I like!
I will go in the deep on all your individual posts, ok?

Hi Floyd, when I found a promising melody while puzzling, I naturally had to come up with something similar for the vocals. That turned out to be trickier than I thought; you have a melody, but you don't know how to sing it. Sound familiar?
To practice, I quickly wrote down a few sentences. Something about space. And then I found the vocal line! I kept the lyrics (well, I wrote them in better English). I could even make a statement with them. So that was a win-win situation! Thanks for recognizing this!

Haha, Laurent. Yes, you're right! I think it has to do with people who call themselves "world leaders." Well, they led me/us to space...
I'm glad you also think the music helps me escape from them!

Hello Rob, if you'd read my answer to Laurent, then you know now how there are so may rocketsongs. Most have lead to eternity...
Thanks a lot for your nice compliments, not only on this song, but my other songs too!

Excellent production.
I love the ending!

Hi David, initially, the violins weren't in the song. There were other instruments and drums in it too. I let Marty listen to it, and even though he normally loves my songs, he said, "I'm sure this song will end very differently. And the drums are distracting." That's when I knew I was on the wrong track with the song. So I changed everything to what it is now, except for the violins. I woke up in the middle of the night and thought, "Violins, I want those in!" I did, and I laughed. They cheered me up! And that's how the song became what it is today. And I hope it cheers you up too, David!

Hi Andrew, thanks for your comment on the song. If you read what I wrote to Laurent above, you'll see that I had the same thoughts as you when I wrote the song. And I'm glad you like it!

Hi Chay, I'm so sorry I didn't consider your needs when I created the song. I guess I just wanted to get it done as quickly as possible. It's really cold up there! But I have a solution for you. You can press a button called "repeat," and man... I bet you'll stop it yourself after about two hours. Thanks for your message!

Thanks everyone and continue making music after reading!

With the baritone guitar and the Irish fiddle and the lyric it sounds like an Irish outer space western. 😉
The fiddle does indeed give it a happy feeling.
And the piano interplay is very good.

We can relate to the lyric .. why?
Well as we often say to Peter, “beam us over there to Australia, Scotty!”

Excellent BiaB session guys, vocals, write and mix. ALL good smile

Far out!

This would bring down the house in a pub in Dublin!
What a killer song and sound!
The fiddle obviously is heart of the sound and that baritone is the icing on the cake
I always love your vocals, and you sure did deliver a great performance here!
It's like a crazy dream after watching a spaghetti western and then a sci-fi movie.
Nice work as always!

What an enjoyable flight in your rocket smile Interesting lyrics, not over the moon, but not feet on the ground either, I like the different angle.

And your arrangement are always so interesting. The combination of a baritone guitar and a fiddle is amazing, and the way you place the instruments to tell the story is very skillful.

Melodic and rhytmic, I enjoy the folky elements. And your vocals are strong carrying the song to the moon and beyond. The more I listen to this song, the more I find it extraterrestrially and supernaturally good, let's go to eternity!

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
