Thanks for pointing me over here from the other sub forum.

I think a certain Mr Garrett would be happy with the song, it's right in The Oils wheelhouse and I can imagine what it would sound like with Rob Hirst (RIP) driving it along.

As for ducking, I use it from kick to bass to allow the beater hit to come through without competition from the bass and also to a bit less aggressively to give the lead vocal space from a dominant fill/backing instrument.

I'm not sure in other DAWs but it's simple in Reaper using sidechain compression, for the kick I do a send from the kick to the bass to land as aux to the comp on the bass, I set the attack at zero and the release at 10ms with something around a 3db cut, I'm sure I'm preaching to the converted and highly skilled here but it could help those who don't understand the concept.
