A song of Max's about the gold rush, BIAB drums, organ and acoustic rhythm, I play the bass and lead parts

Sorry I don't have any BIAB detail I lost the Volume project files when a USB drive got toasted, fortunately had the masters stored elsewhere and now everything is backed up across multiple drives

At Ballarat

Hi Dave!
I like the intro repeated on this song - really adds a good variation throughout the song.

My wife and I honeymooned in Ballarat back in 1985. Still married, so it did us no harm.

PS I notice you’re posting a few songs - you might want to slow down and leave some for later. It also shares around the first page of posts so that everyone gets a turn. But … enjoying your songs!

Yeah I felt like I flooded the zone a bit but was trying to give a bit of a cross section of what we have done out of the 42 songs we have released since late 2019.

FWIW we probably have that many again as works in progress with 12 of them for the 4th album for release later this year almost complete.

I'll sit back now and enjoy the work of others until Volume 4 drops.

As for Ballarat, I don't have a 12 string so the riff is double tracked in octaves on a Tele and an acoustic

Well done, Dave. The lyrics are cool, and I wish you included them for us to follow. It's quite a fun romp. I'll get to thew others at another time and really look forward to it.

Enjoy whatever happens!

No worries Dave - I hope I didn’t offend with my suggestion. I find that in between my own posts, I like listening to and commenting on others’ posts - it broadens my listening and also gives me ideas, as well as supporting other artists. This forum is full of people that are supportive and generous, and with your own experience, I am sure you will have a lot to offer. It is common also for members to seek feedback on a work in progress before they finalise it - there are many ears here that will give thoughtful and objective feedback.

I didn’t say it before, but welcome to the forum! Good to see another Aussie. My wife and I *almost* made it to the ‘Gong last year, but time ran short so we’ve left it for another road trip.

Warm regards (43 degrees here today)

Andrew Davies

Dave, this is an excellent song
Loved that bass!
Super vocal
Great mix

My wife had her driving test today.
She got 8 out of 10.
The other 2 jumped out of the way!

Hi Dave

Some more great Australiana sounds from you. Some excellent lyrical gems here. You do that whole Oz Country feel just as good as John Williamson, vocally, storytelling and musically.

Excellent, kind regards

Thanks for the kind comments we just turn out songs across many genres but have a leaning to country and vocal harmony.
