I believe you are right I gave it a spin today as well and came to the same conclusion. I was using the ARA2 version and it is a nice to work with. I did a short song with that guys electric guitar, added a Bass. Organ. Drum track from my Toontracks. I finished it off with a BIAB Brent Mason Lead Solo track.
The subscription is a big turn off for me. I am going to wait to see how this develops.
