I don't know if this will help or just add more noise to the discussion.

I had a hard time figuring out how to effectively use ACW. Eventually I got to this point.

1. Be sure the project is set to 120 BPM regardless of the tempo of the song.
2. add your lines manually and use the equalize tempo assuming you know the actual tempo of the original song... or just guess.

Once I started with those 2 things, everything else kinda fell right into place. It's not very common now that I get myself painted into the proverbial corner and have to start over.
