I recorded this. about a year ago but never linked it in this forum. Just discovered that "Softly as in a Morning Sunrise" is in the Public Domain. So... here it is. I love this song.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Memo: All-RealTracks bebop jazz quartet with tenor sax soloist being backed by piano, acoustic bass and RealDrums. -Examples: Star Eyes, Autumn Leaves., Genre "Intensity" Score=30/100
_JZBOPTS.STY. Bebop Quartet w/ Tenor Solo
All RealTracks. Quartet. *** with Soloist ***Tempo=190 (180-220)
Instruments: Ac.Bass, Ac.Piano, TenorSax(solo), Drums
RD: Jazz: a: HiHat b: Ride & Snare :Craig Scott
RT752: Bass, Acoustic, Jazz BeBop Sw 190 , Neil Swainson
RT755: Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm Jazz BeBop Sw 190 , Miles Black
RT758: Sax, Tenor, Soloist Jazz BeBop Sw 190 , P.J. Perry. (Muted)
My New Years resolution... try to record at least 1 song per week.

This week... "Softly As In A Morning Sunrise", music- Sigmund Romberg, lyrics- Oscar Hammerstein/Frank Mandel

Recorded using a Sennheiser 441 with the "FETHEAD" to boost the gain. The Sennheiser 441 is a dynamic mic. The Fethead gives it a 20db bump via the pre-amp built into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Gen 4. Dynamic mics do not require phantom power. The FETHEAD uses phantom power to boost the gain and just plugs into the XLR out on my mic.

Backing tracks via Band In A Box 2024 ultrapak for Mac.

Recorded in Logic Pro 11.

Selmer Reference 54 Tenor Sax. Guardala MB1 (original handmade)
Boston Sax Shop Black Box 3.5 reeds (the BEST REEDS EVER!)

Filmed on iPhone 15 Pro Max.

This video was edited using Final Cut Pro

I'm not familiar with this tune but I absolutely love it! I listened to a vocal version on yt, feel like I've found a hidden gem! I also spent some time on your channel and listened to some material that wouldn't qualify for the BIAB forum. Great stuff, thanks for sharing!

Really great jazz piece!

Hi Steve.

This is excellent. I've liked Softly As In A Morning Sunrise for many, many years and you really did it justice. Kudos to you on such a great presentation. Classy through and through.

Good morning Steve,

I’m not a huge fan of Jazz, but I do like to see/hear fine musicianship and you’ve got that all going here. You certainly are a master of the sax, I really enjoyed your arrangement and I even found my toes tapping along to the number.

That was really good, kind regards.

Thanks MarioD! I am hoping to record an original this week. I have been recording pretty steadily, though I can't always post it in the forums here (some are just covers). I am busy writing some new original music, but I want to record the material I've already written first. Just not enough time to do it all right now.

Thanks for listening!

Noel- I'm glad you liked it. This dates back to when I was first learning to use BIAB, Logic Pro, and Final Cut. I was still using a Focusrite Scarlet. I've since moved up to a Clarett (much better pre amp).

Jazz isn't for everyone (wish it was). But thank you for giving it a listen.
