Re "We either "believe" something because we've experienced it ourselves ....", no. If you directly experience something, you know 100% that you've experienced it. There's a vast difference between knowing and believing, just as there's a vast difference between knowledge and an opinion. Even a theory isn't knowledge as it's something yet to be proven
