I didn't see anything wrong with Firstbassman's post. His post was on topic, he added a new point which was usefull. I don't think that pgmusic's stance is like the extreme developers who want complete silence about the existence of other software. I use Sonar and have used that company's stuff since before powertracks. How we use software is important, and a lot of the time people work on something substantial there is more than one company's software, especially when multiple people are contributing.

Certainly, there are trolls and spammers, and schills for another company's products. This guy was nothing near any of that. You came down pretty hard on him too. I do appreciate the apology, a little long winded but who am I to talk ;-)

Finally, I have found a cool signature with sufficiently dry humor.

Thanks for the thought, but i do not think i came down hard on anyone. I appreciate FB's point, and we all, as I said above, mention other software form time to time. I do not think of FB as a troll, he is a good contributor here, and a good guy, with a good sense of humor.

I own several programs myself, that i particularly like for certain things. I have been open about that on many post. I will say it again in the hope of clarity. The only thing i was pointing out is while we might mention other software that we like and use, i did not feel it was cool to post a link to that said software, especially in light of the OP's question, about why he needed RB. He did not asked about other products, nor did he ask for a comparison of them. He did not ask what do others prefer to use along with BiaB. He simply asked why he should use RB, implying that as a BiaB user, what would be the benefit to him to use RB. FB then proceeded to offer another option rather than really answer the question, which was in realily "What will RB do for me different than BiaB?", and never was "What DAW should I use with RB" . Then he capped that off with a link to his favorite software. That was in a small way an attempt to offer, promote or otherwise suggest that product.

I do not think that makes him a troll, or a bad guy, and i view him as one of the good guys around here. And I will also offer that i have done the same in times past, over at another board, but after a long discussion there, i saw the point that it was not the right thing to do.

So I only pointed out that IMHO is not cool and not what the forum is for. PG most likely will not comment on these things, since that would look like a small bit of censorship, on their part. They are very tolerant folks.

Anywho, if I seem to hard on this, well i once again apologize.

I'll search for a bridge over churning water,
Waiting for some guy's pretty daughter,
You all wonder what'ere might be my goal,
I'll hide beneath it, and play the troll.

Haa!

(I always wanted to do something.....like that....)

Wow,and I've been off the booze for 6 months....YIKES.

I didn't see troll-ism either for what it matters. Just a joust and exchange of 'opinion'.

I personally love it when people take the time to insert a link to something they choose to share about. Forums are all about sharing, helping others. I'm sure more than one person has been directed to PG's products via a link someone shared, maybe on someone else's proprietary forum.

If PG wanted to disable external links, they could. But that would run counter to the open community spirit which for me, has informed the way we use the 'net.

Whey Real Band? I just upgraded to win 7 from xp. I had not used real tracks much in the past but have this Bossa tune that I found a great real tracks style for. Well, it's almost real tracks. It has midi tracks, too. When I go to render just the midi tracks get rendered via my Ketron sd2.. With the help of PG Music Support and my spotty memory, I went to real band, recorded the midi tracks as audio tracks, mixed, and merged the audio tracks to a .wav file. Yes, there's a way to do this in BIAB, but RB is a lot easier for youto see and control exactly what you are doing to achieve your end result. Now that I'm learning, I seem to be using Real Band more and more--especially for existing midi files or to edit BIAB files. YMMV

Good points Bandmoose, I hear you, and i will say no more on the subject after this post. Below are two of the rules of the forum, which we all agreed to when we registered. Forums are about sharing, but always within the confines of the rules posted for all to observe. This is not a free public forum, it is provided by PG music for an express purpose, support and promotion of their business. PG could block links, but not all links are commercial in nature, and that would block users from enjoying each others music and such.

7.Advertising is forbidden in any relation to your account except by explicit permission. This includes, but is not limited to, advertising websites and commercial-related or competing products.

9.All of the forums except for the Off Topic forum are for discussions of PG Music products only. The Off Topic forum is used for MUSIC-RELATED discussions that aren't about PG Music products. Please keep all your posts as constructive as possible.

Anyway I am done now. Thanks for listening, and enjoy the day. Rob
