Super song, John! GREAT vocals by Jenny. Excellent arrangement and use of BiaB instruments. A nice piece of songcraft and a mighty fine listen.

Hey, Herb. I went to your site to listen to a couple of songs. You're far ahead of me in musicianship and I much admire your work. Terrific country songwriting and I liked your Seasons instrumental that depicts how autumn feels. I agree the best songs are from the heart.

Hans, yep, Jenny did a knockout job with the vocals! I really like the emphasis and inflections she put on the words. Her website is at https://www.jennymcgregor.com.au/home. I'm surprised at the listens the song got in the last week. It's interesting to see what kind of songs appeal or not appeal to an audience. What made "Equal" interesting on Broadjam's charts is that it was the UK, European, and Australian nations, and women in all places that pushed the song to #2 Earth.

Hey, Marty! I had that catchy tune for a couple of decades until I decided what to write about, and Jenny made it rock! I have lots of stories starting with living in a very strict, conservative household, kept hidden because I was the embarrassment of my family as a "special child," and floundering my way and getting kicked around when I finally went into the world not knowing how to blend in...and living in places like Idaho and Arizona where my liberal views and not coming across like a "real man" were not appreciated. I got married just before turning 50 which infuriated my parents who thought I should never marry, and, upon retiring at 68, made a break from Phoenix to California! My wife, Lora, was a special education teacher and was the one who discovered I had Asperger Syndrome, which no medical facility previously was able to figure out. It was confirmed a couple years later by a psychologist and psychiatrist. My songs are an autobiography. Just as David Crosby said on "Four Way Street," that's what you have to write about if you're going to get down to something that means anything. You really come up with a lot of variety in your tunes, they're always lively and terrific listens!

Wow, that was like a fast ride on a mountain road. I really like the message, "It's not too much to ask to feel alive/And not be kicked or cast aside/To be part of life just as myself/Instead of trying to be something else." says so much. Very nice singer, and those "equal"s are really catchy. Enjoyable and creative melody/chords. Great band, the piano break is nicely surprising and the guitar solo makes me want to join the ride. And thanks for sharing your interesting backstory, music and tools like BIAB can make us all equal - no expensive equipments needed, just chords, melody and lyrics from the heart smile

Hi, Janne! Thank you very much for your response. That single line, "It's not too much to ask to feel alive," was something Robert Quigley from Edinburgh, Scotland suggested to me and I liked it. I've sometimes collaborated with him and Bob Bentley who is from the south shore of England. Jenny, the vocalist, moved from Scotland to Australia and really knows how to deliver a song. They were on Broadjam where I found several friends, all of like minds who love to be cooperative, supportive, and friendly. My songs are a travelogue of my life experiences. That's what I have to write about to get down to what means anything. Yes, there's a lot of production divas out there but it all comes down to the base words and music. I love writing catchy pop melodies which to me is the most important part of the song as it has the feeling words alone can't reach.
Best to you, my friend.
John
