Hey, Andrew! The way things are going, I wish I was in Australia. Adelaide has foliage, trees, that are strikingly similar to Yucaipa, 90 miles east of Los Angeles. The hills in back of Adelaide and the hills that flank California's San Joaquin Valley are also very similar. The only thing different in Yucaipa are the towering San Bernardino Mountains. We're about eight miles from the famed San Andreas fault. Perth appears more wooded in the city and shrubby outlying to the north. The Indian Ocean has a lovely turquoise color. When I worked for nearly two decades in the Arizona Dept. of Transportation, I studied lots of maps and made illustrations to depict what the engineers gave me for highway construction. It was easy work for me as I used to ransack maps from gas stations as a kid on my bicycle in Los Angeles. We went to a couple of beaches along Santa Monica Bay during the summers. The Rolling Stones, Association, Beatles, Beach Boys, Mamas and Papas, among many other classics, were on the radio by DJs Wolfman Jack and Don Steele. "You're listening to K95, home of all the hits with the real Don Steele! OOHHH-KAAAAAAYYYY!!!"
Best to you, John

Hi, Mario, always great to see a reply from you, too! Thank you! That was another melody I had for years but the title and words came to me recently in 2021. I sometimes have to wait to find out what a melody feels like. The song entered Broadjam's charts in December. At the time, the group of six songwriters Robert Quigley from Scotland and I formed from Broadjam all had political or protest songs charting in early 2022. It was really cool!
Very kind regards, John

Hi, KW! Thank you very much! Jenny McGregor was on Broadjam and is a wonderful songwriter, pianist, and vocalist. She's at https://www.jennymcgregor.com.au/home. I thought Rockabilly Kevin got funky there a bit but I liked it so I kept it. I had two Band in a Box pianos on there and I'll have to look up what the other one was. Sometimes I'll make a copy of the file and look for different styles to try out and notice an instrument I really like.
Very kind regards back atcha, John

I'm enjoying this forum and try to get on it every so often. It's friendlier than Broadjam (which I sometimes refer to as Broadscam) which tends to be more competitive but that's because of the contests and syncing placements they promote, which is more like pulling a lever on a slot machine in Las Vegas. When it comes to peer reviews, most of them type a stupid sentence or two without explaining why they give low scores just to rack up points. During the covid years from 2019 to 2022, it was fun because I met a few really nice talented songwriters. But AI is starting to take over the site, it's very cliquish, and it's not fun anymore.

I'm mixing a Motown/disco song called, "I'm Not Coming Back." The challenging thing is that it has multiple harmonies sung by Marilyn Simone that have similar ranges as several of the instruments which is something of an equalization problem; also, a volume envelope and rider kind of thing.
