I've never written in a blues style as I find an original melody is hard to pin down.
Not sure I have come up with one now, as it seems similar to others I've heard, but I leave you to decide.

Have A Little Mercy © Vic Arnold 2026

You travelled your own made, hard road.
You've been a thief, a wastrel and a liar.
Sometimes a dreamer. Sometimes a rogue,
and always standing a little too close to the fire,
but you sing out ...
Have mercy. Have a little mercy.
Have mercy. Have a little mercy on me.

There was a bar. There was a waitress.
Seems only yesterday, ooh, but could be more.
She took your order. She took your reason.
Left you with no pride and nowhere to go,
so you sing out ...
Have mercy. Have a little mercy.
Have mercy. Have a little mercy on me.
Inst.
You don't have a plan to know where you're going?
There's a light on but you keep in the dark.
A liitle more whiskey to keep the mind flowing
Just one more cigarette. That's how it all starts.
and here it comes ...
Have mercy. Have a little mercy.
Have mercy. Have a little mercy on me.
