Link: My Song For You So, after a couple of sad and depressing social critical songs, I decided to write a love song for a change. Not exactly a happy love song, but it's a start. It is about the tendency, especially at a young age, to idealize one's loved one despite all his/her/its imperfections. And before you ask: no, the video has absolutely nothing to do with the music. It was just a proof of concept for future videos. But I learned a lot and kinda liked it, so now you have to suffer. The lyrics are a re-write of a song I wrote in 2022 when I joined here. Since I've learned a LOT since then (back then, I didn't even know anything about the circle of fifths ), I decided to rewrite the entire song. This time in 3/4, because it suits the mood better. There are too few songs that aren't in 4/4 time anyway... As always, when I decide to write something in 3/4, I immediately regret it. Immediately as in "when I try the first RealTrack™ ". There are too few that sound reasonably modern. So I had to get my guitar out. Again. I'm not a guitarist. My intonation is legendary. I can make every guitar sound out of tune. And I had to play and program the drums. I'm also not a drummer. I smell better! And I had to play the piano and synthesizers. Okay, I can play the piano a little. I especially like the black keys, because the probability of accidentally hitting two keys with one finger is minimal. It's not zero, though. But I digress, here it is: My song for you Feedback (the good, the bad and the ugly) is, as always, highly appreciated. A big thank you to Marty, because after hearing the original version of this song back then, he offered to review all my lyrics. For free! What a great guy! Highly recommended Another thank you to RayC for his very constructive feedback and his help with the lyrics of the original version. Some technical information: Style: _RELATE.STY The band:Drums: me Bass: me Guitars: 4142, 2x4388, 1xAI, me Piano: me Synths: 1543, me Vocals: AI + Synthesizer V Tracks Stats for those interested:BIAB: 4x Me: 12x AI: 2x You can find the lyrics in the next post.

Title: My Song For You
(Intro) If I could find the words I would write a song for you It would be the most beautiful song My song for you
(Verse) But I hate those silly love songs They are a waste of time I will never write a love song I will never walk that road It's so wrong
(Pre-Chorus) I'm not that bad But not a perfect person
I feel as much as you That's why I have To tell you
(Chorus) Don't raise me up so tall Cause I would have to fall To get my feet back on the ground I'm not the one you want I'm just the way I am The only person here To blame
(Verse) Now we're here Much love and some butterflies It's not all fun and games In the end I will be the one to blame But I'm working on it
(Chorus) Don't raise me up at all Cause I would have to fall To get my feet back on the ground I'm not the one you want I'm just the way I am Your life will never be the same The same again
(Bridge) I just wrote a fυcking love song I don't wanna walk that road it's too long Did I tell you?
(Chorus) Don't raise me up so tall Cause I would have to fall To get my feet back on the ground I'm not the one you want I'm just the way I am The only person here
(Bridge) So please, don't look up to me It wouldn't be good for you And not good for me Not good at all
(Chorus) Don't raise me up at all Cause I would have to fall To get my feet back on the ground I'm not the one you want I'm just the way I am Your life will never be the same
(Outro) Never be the same No Never be the same

That’s a top number you’ve got there BD.
Production and songwriting is absolutely perfect, I don’t think you could have made it any better. In this instance I enjoyed the AI vocal and video, I felt it really worked well. I just hope we don’t lose the human vocal to AI completely.
Really well done. Kind regards

This sounds GREAT, B.D.! Gorgeous use of space and dynamics. Really like the nuances you've created for the vocalist. I don't know anything about modern vocalists, but she reminds me of Billie Eilish, who I only know because I look up her music on YouTube every time she wins an award. Which is a LOT it seems... Overall, this is a SUPER cool sound, but it certainly doesn't play to the strengths of BiaB, at least how I use it. Great job playing and/or programming all the elements of the band. They play SO nice together, and the effect is hypnotic. Very funny write up, too. Hard to be self-deprecating about your parts when they sound this nice though.

Beautiful, melodic and superbly arranged & sung. I think you have all the ingredients here for a great Pop song.
Your singer sounds awesome as well. Loved it!

Another wonderful song! And I love listening to your productions, sounds fabulous through the 'phones. Video is amazing! You listed AI for one of the guitars, is it the guitar doing the little lead fills, or is that you? Your comment "My intonation is legendary" made me laugh

You listen to the first few verses and think it's good, but when you hear the chorus, it's even better. The different sections are very well constructed, and the vocals are excellent, as is the video. Great work. Laurent

Another great effort from you. I would never have guessed you had all the obstacles you described, it turned out quite well. You get better results than I do with AI vocals, I would like to know your secret. Well done, Brain!

Hi B.D.! I agree - there aren’t enough good 3/4 RealStyles, but you did well to create yours! Loved the video as well. Andrew

Don't get me wrong, the sound of the tracks I play myself isn't THAT bad, but on average I need a zillion takes to play something that you guys can do in one or two takes. Thank you for your kind comment, Ron ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/images/icons/default/thumbs_up.gif)

Hi, B.D. Ha! I can relate to picking a style, and then looking for more instruments and coming up short. Isn't the point of having BiaB that you don't have to do it yourself? Shudder... Those AI videos with perfect skin tone. Uncanny. As for the song? It sounds great. Vocals spot on, interesting arrangement - all around good job.

Hi BD.
Once again, you have cleared the "this is brilliant" bar with plenty of room to spare. I absolutely LOVE what you've done. The arrangement, the production, the vocals are stunning. You had me completely mesmerised. What really appealed to me was that this sometimes sounded distinctly 3/4 and other times it sounded like a slow 6/8 (especially when the snare drum was on the first beat of alternating bars).
I thoroughly enjoyed this audio/visual journey. --Noel

Your comment "My intonation is legendary" made me laugh Thank you, Dave The answer to your question is a bit tricky, as the song has 9 guitar tracks, but if you mean what I suspect you mean, then it's RealTrack 4142 hard panned to the right running through Guitar Rig's REPLICA delay, followed by the VC 76 compressor. And it's sidechained/ducked by the vocals so that it only plays where it is needed.

I often have trouble making the chorus the climax of the song, so this is very valuable feedback ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/images/icons/default/thumbs_up.gif)

Guitars sound Great. Bass sounds Great. Drums sound Great. Vocals sound Great.
LOVE the melody. Love the "space" in both the write and the production.
Gorgeous mix.

Wow, this is the 4th song and video I watched on YouTube and which I *know* I commented on - in fact I've checked and it was on 8th February - but all of my comments have vanished! I can't recall what wrote for this song, but what I do remember is resisting asking what you used for the video with the girl singing the song as I'd leave it until it was posted here. Anyway, it's a 100% freaking awesome song on all levels! Definitely one of my favourites of yours.
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #58: Bring consciousness to it. #63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!
With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
