Below 10

For the last 24 hours our temperature never got to 10 degrees (-12.2C). Thus I never went outside and that gave me time to style surf and to record this song. All of my tracks are one takes. I wanted it to sound like an after hours jam so I left in a few warts in the guitar track.

BiaB style - Rover Groovy Gospel Funk
Tempo - 85 BPM
I only use the drum and piano tracks from this styleL
Drums - SSD5 - 06 Deluxe Country - 01
Piano - Lounge Lizard - Tine - Groove Station

I am playing the lead and rhythm guitars (my Xaviere 335 with HB pickups) and via my breath and wind controllers the Swam Tenor sax.

As always all comments are welcomed.

PS- right now, Sunday February 8 at 3:30 PM, it is a balmy 13 degrees (-10.6C)!

Mario,

Cold here too!

Awesome sounding track! Love the hard & edgy guitar. You sound great on that Xaviere. And as always, love the Swam Tenor sax.

Excellent all around!

Thanx Bob for listening and commenting. I liked that you loved the guitar as hard and edgy was my aim.

Hi Mario.

I have absolutely no concept of how cold –12.2°C is. The coldest my part of Australia gets to is around –1 to 0°C for a day or two in the middle of winter. Personally, I'm glad that I don't have to learn how to survive in a snowy climate. Now that the weather has been discussed adequately, I'd better comment on your piece. This is a great creation. You certainly enlivened my spirits as I listened. You are a fine guitarist.

Wow, Mario, you be jammin' on this one! Tom Scott meets Santana! I don't envy your freezing your behind off way across the country. Over here February and March are usually cool and wet. So far it's far warmer than usual and dry. We're hoping for more rain to discourage the fires from starting. "Below 10" is a keeper for sure! Best to you, John

Hi Mario!
Warts on the guitar track? I didn't hear any. Man, if I could play like you, I'd be handling a few more toads and frogs!
Definitely sounds like a live jam - mission accomplished!

I know you and I have traded stories about temperatures before, but I have no concept of -12°C. In Adelaide in the depths of winter, we might get a couple of days that get down to +6°C or so, but at the other end of the spectrum, the other week we had 5 or so days in a row above 39°C, with one day hitting 45°C (113°F) followed by the city’s hottest night ever recorded, with temperatures refusing to drop below 34°C (93°F).
It's not a competition - may our weather warm you up over there, just as I hope yours will cool us down over here. Just like you, in those days, with air con on and ceiling fan spinning, all I can do is sit at my computer and go browsing BIAB Styles.
Well done!
Andrew

Sounds great Mario, love the groove and I always enjoy hearing you play.

-12.2C?! Man, that's shorts and tee shirt weather. Last couple of days here it's been below -21C, -30C with the wind chill factor.

Well, Below 10 is beter than 10 Below. Either way you brought on the heat with this one, Mario. Cool funk blues. Guitars are perfect, and I always dig what you come up with on the Swam tenor. Hey, I dig that bass, too. Dat you?

Enjoy whatever happens!

I always knew you were secretly a guitar shredder, Mario.
Genre-wise, it's absolutely NOT my thing, but what you do with the axe and the sax is really cool [Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]

Thanx Noel, I'm glad you liked it. When you live in a certain climate you know how to adjust to it. I have no problem with cold snowy days. I have lived it all of my life but I must say it was a lot more fun as a kid playing in it than an old man shoveling in it!

Thanx John. Unfortunately forest fires and California seem to go hand in hand lately. I hope you do get rain to help prevent those fires.

Thanx so much Andrew for this wonderful review. The best thing about both of our climate situations is that we have more time for style surfing. Unfortunately I have to take time off from surfing to do some shoveling!

PS - When I woke up this morning the temperature was -4F (-20C).

Thanx Dave. When I woke up this morning the temperature was -4F (-20C). We have had wind chill factors in the -20F range (-29C) here also. This has been the coldest and windiest winter we have had in a long time.

Thanx Marty. Yep dat is me on my Squire P-Bass. A comment like that from an excellent bassist like you has really made my day! Thanx!

Nice Jam, Mario! No sense wasting a snow day when you can do THIS instead, right? Strong arrangement and nicely played all the way around. That's a cool fluttering effect on parts of the sax, too. WILD axe wielding prowess on display! 'scuse me while I KISS the SNOW! Blam! blam! blam...

We still have 6" of "snowcrete" from the snowfall 15 days ago. Just bitterly cold, though not as cold as you. Funny, but it was a sunny 22 degrees F yesterday and it felt like spring...
