With new UI, my workflow improved dramatically, however...
The current navigation across new UI panels is broken. From my perspective, where you "click-to start playback" that should be a new center of the project on Stop. No matter which view panel you switch to.
When editing, I find myself constantly scrolling different views just to find a spot I was a second ago. It gets very (very!) frustrating, especially when doing fine things. It takes a lot of (human) memory & double checking (cross referencing). This must be changed.
And second related issue is broken Space Bar function. While it almost works in Piano Roll and Audio edit, it's not stable and would constantly lose focus (start position).

The obvious elephant in the room is lack of proper timeline and start position marker that will define new project center in all views. I tried to stress the need for it for a long time. Some might argue that it belongs in a "wish" section. And I did that, but unfortunately there is no commitment from PGM. Therefore I am asking to fix these two items that are not working properly currently.

To sum up:

1) Regardless of the view in which you clicked at specific location to start playback > That should be new screen "center" of all views, You should not scroll to find same position when switching views.

2) Space Bar function should remember "Click-to-start-playback" location throughout all views and not lose that focus if you for example switch to another monitor or plugin UI and then return to BIAB main UI. Pressing Space Bar should center all horizontal views to that position. (Return to that position in all views)

P.S. Another user posted slightly different set of consistency issues recently. Above are the issues that affect my workflow the most.

shlind,
many people here, even very advanced users are used to a certain workflow in BIAB and in a way gave up on advanced editing.
I, on the other hand got into BIAB when big changes started to happen, so my take is a bit different. PGM meaningfully expanded track count, added tools like partial re-generation and likely most impactful features: Track View, re-written Piano Roll & new UI. These made BIAB significantly more "linear" and liberated it from many prior limits. That said, BIAB expansion created certain gaps in workflow / user experience that might not be too obvious when doing basic stuff, but create unease when trying to go deeper and stay longer in the program.

This post is not about laying blame. I am actually optimistic to where PGM can take BIAB. For a small team, considering that they are not only coders, but producers of content - they have my full respect. This post meant to highlight very particular issues that I hope will be resolved ASAP, as these probably do not require significant amount of coding.

P.S. As another member thoughtfully suggested, for a year 2026 to be a "User Experience" year at PGM... +1

I've used BIAB for many years and have never got used to a certain workflow, I've just suffered it. It's always been an incredibly frustrating experience trying to do anything much beyond entering some chords and selecting a style.
On the other hand, things have also improved dramatically over those years, albeit at a very slow pace and many things still leave me shaking my head in disbelief with each update. With that said, this last update has been a massive improvement - still lots wrong but for the first time ever I feel it might actually start moving in the right direction, hopefully. Time will tell! smile

+1 this latest update 2026 has been epic. It has made BiaB a better place to work. I will most likely always take my work to one of my favorite DAW programs to complete and mixdown, but i work longer and faster now in BiaB to get to that point!

Now that multiple views are possible at once, consistency is of the upmost importance.

Having the cursor in focus across all views is an example of both consistency and reduced clicks.

What I've discovered...
When you use different views in Undocked mode with 2 monitors or such: Chord View, Piano Roll, Audio Edit, Track View - The position of the project is consistent when you press Stop, You are left at the location at which you pressed Stop.

The problem is when you use most common workflow - using a single monitor and simply switch from one view to another. Location of where you were does not transfer from one view to another on Stop! They (locations) are all over the place at different views. That is a bug, not a wish. PGM, please fix this.

Thank you.

As reported in this thread https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=878138#Post878138
There are many thing not in sync when multiple screens are docket in a Multiview's.

Good catch that they are "more" in sync when undocked.
I hope they make these obvious out of sync things a priority.

Great catch of the difference between docked and undocked views. Please fix.

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
