So the other day I had a half-hour to kill before an appointment, and Barnes and Nobel book store is always a great place to do that. So, I’m thumbing thru some music magazines and I see a big article on this guy I never heard of, Brian Bromberg. The next day I looked him up, and holy mackerel, can this dude make those 4 strings sing. Indeed, everybody in his band has chops.

He may be a “bottom-feeder”, but this kind of cream rises to the top.

Interestingly enough, I hear bass notes further down than him that he's not playing. Plus I see a laptop on stage that might be playing a low-register bass track. I don't think the dude on organ is playing those notes.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.
