This song got its start last month when the "hook" phrase popped into my head, "God is gonna get ya on Judgment Day." I imagined a "fire and brimstone" preacher confronting a crime kingpin in a smoky 1940s bar. Not sure where this song came from, but it might have been inspired by singing a Peter, Paul and Mary song, "Very Last Day" in music class in 5th and 6th grade, about 1966-68:

I used Audacity for mixing and reverb, and Melodyne to tweak the vocals.
You've got the feel of a foreboding grim tune that would have been written in the 40s, Bob! I haven't heard the tune before so it sounds original. You did a pretty darned good job with Audacity in mixing it, too, and a good selection of Band in the Box instruments. John
Nicely done, Bob. The music definitely captures the fire and brimstone aspect of the narrative. The rumbling vocal also fits right in. Super job with the BiaB backing arrangement. All the instruments sound great, especially (to me) the soloists. The tempo change at the end was a nice touch, too.
If you WERE inspired by a Peter, Paul and Mary song from the mid-60s, you wouldn't be alone. Have more than a few of their songs stuck in my head, too.

A very atmospheric song with the perfect singer. Amazing vocals. I can't judge whether you sound like your inspiration (I'm a probably too young for that), but I like this song. Well done!
