The Police Of Mind on Soundcloud
The Police Of Mind on YouTube

A song about subtle and subliminal mind control --or so I've been told... I think.

Style is _SASSY.STY (Sassy Blues Shuffle)

Dave Bell (Blue Attitude) played guitar. I played bass and sang.

The Police Of Mind

Everything you say can be used against you
in the court of public opine.
There's really no escape from the handcuffs you wear
provided by police of mind.
They're gonna clip your wings, they're gonna gag your will.
They'll take from you all you got.
They'll send you back into the ground with all you brought.

You cannot escape the abuse they're inflicting.
It's planted into your head.
Maybe you could use a lobotomy slice
to erase all the rules you were fed.
If you could find away, eradicate their rules,
and make for you your very own way.
Cuz if you don't, you'll come to see you have no say.

Once they get in your head, you'll never be free again.
You gotta turn them off in your mind to live your own life
your own way.

They'll stop your soul from the growth you are making.
You will lose the progress you made.
When reaching for the truth you're alone in the quest,
and no one will come to your aid.
Don't let them take your will. Don't let them tell you why.
They'll take from you all you got.
They'll send you back into the ground with all you brought.
The worst fate for all mankind, The Police Of Mind.

Police of Mind, very clever pun!. Nice tune, Dave laid down the perfect guitar lead, and it's another one in the books for Mr. Prolific! Enjoyed it, Marty.

Marty,

That's an awesome song! And that video is so cool! Great lyrical commentary on the times we live it. Outstanding vocal and a blistering guitar track. You and Dave are quite the musical pair!

LOVED IT!

Very cool one! LOVE the vocals, and I can name that guitarist in ONE note! Fun keeping up with the lead guitar panning, and lovely solo, too. Nice BiaB backing and overall arrangement.

Great theme. I can remember when we could agree to disagree on most any topic. Now, it's all a grimly played game without a winner...

Hey Marty,

A very thoughtful insight into influencers today….you obviously haven’t been subjugated yet! And a very clever, although grotesque at times, video too. I caught part of the State of the Union Rant Address yesterday, you know that Circus act that America puts on, and thought then who is buying all this snake oil. Public mind control starts at the top and unfortunately we’re all subjected to it, and with social media and conventional media these days, it’s hard to have a genuine thought sometimes.

Anyways, a great song and subject. An excellent arrangement and vocal from you as always, And Dave did you proud with a great lead guitar track.

Great job Marty, kind regards.

A wonderful bass track... I love the change from walk to fluttering chromatic is ab fab.
Everything to love - punny title, controversial narrative, excellent vocal, cool arrangement and DAVE'S guitar.

Cheers

Hi Marty!
Great theme about brainwashing. We all need to learn to think deeply and critically about what we hear and believe; to do our own research (not the sort where you listen to someone else’s diatribe); and be prepared to fess up when we’ve gone off half-cocked. We increasingly live in a world that demands binary thinking, while I am sure that shades of grey and complexity are probably more true.

Musically, this sounds right in the centre of your wheelhouse that you and Dave put out regularly, and your standard has not dropped!
Andrew
PS I laughed out loud when I glimpsed what I am sure is an 8-string Strat in the video! Don’t you just love AI image generation.

Hi Marty,

I enjoyed your song, and its message about those who'd like to take away our freedom of speech/thought.

Dave Bell's guitar work was a treat!

I also liked the unexpected chord changes in the "Once they get in your head...." section.

Marty and Dave, you posted another winner
Great vocal and lyrics
Dave's guitar was spectacular
Super mix
Loved it

PS - I thought that I saw something quickly flash on and off in the video so on the second viewing I kept hitting pause trying to capture it. On the fourth viewing I did capture it. Very clever gentlemen as the flashing message read "you will like this song"!

Ducking and running for cover!

Hey, Marty! How incredibly true! You are spot on with this well crafted song...and so pertinent to our times. How many of us are really paying attention and staying aware?

Thanks, Bob. I suppose mind-control is part of our DNA. Recognizing it and avoiding it are survival skills that still need work.

Thanks, Ray! I wish the narrative was popular enough to be controversial. Yeah, man, I get the urge --no, the need-- for all caps on Dave. Hats off and CAPS on.

Thanks, Andrew. Right, ask questions and question answers. You and i would enjoy a firepit chat, sir. HaHA. I thought using YT's "ask" button to encourage comments about the wonkiness of Ai (intentional small i) would increase the value of the videos. smile

Thanks, Dave. Brain pics seem to freak people out. I'm afraid to think about that.

Thanks, Floyd. I used those brain pix to expel the notion that we have more than one, like "he smoked his brains out." Right? Man, this is Dave's wheelhouse, but I've just been remixing older songs and he can do it in any style. A terrific session guy.

Thanks, Mario. Nice catch on the subliminal demand. I tried to make it only if played backwards, but... Actually it says "you DO like this song."
