I awoke from a dream with this melody. I dreamt that I was listening to a new song by the Eagles called "Got a Way." When I awoke, I realized I had come up with the melody. I immediately got up, got my guitar and wrote down the notes and chords. Then came the hard part...coming up with the words! I got Clay Collins who is on FiveRR to sing the vocals. When I released it on Broadjam, it soared right up to #5 Earth following my #1 song, "Stay Here Now." Oh, I've been asked where do find a grove of trees in the desert? Riparian. Riparian groves are found in the desert in canyons. https://www.johnwalradt.com/music/songs/shehasaway-master24_nov25.mp3Style is _INSPIRE.STY (Inspire Cheery Indie Pop) RealTracks in style: 1253:Bass, Electric, PopShiningHeld Ev 120 RealTracks in style: 1262:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm PopShiningHeld Ev 120 RealTracks in song: 410:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Country Cowboy Ev 165 RealTracks in style: 634:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm PopAmericanMuted Ev 120 (B:8ths) Loop in Song: House-Techno-Trance\House - crunchy_120_b drums ev16.wav RealDrums in style:MetalSlowBigTomGroove: a: Toms, Snare b: Busy Big Toms, Snare SHE HAS A WAY Words and music: John Walradt She has a way And I don’t know what to say She has a way Got me singin’ feelin’ thinkin’ dreamin’ I’m in love and I’m believin’ Everything is going to be okay I don’t know how she does it but You know, you know, you know She has a way. John and Clay, this is a super pop song. Clay did a fantastic job on the vocals. A really good backing band Great mix A super song.

Thank you, Mario! I don't know if Clay Collins is still doing vocals but he is listed on FiveRR. His harmonies are out of this world. ALL of the instruments are from Band in a Box. No midi arrangements from me as I didn't need any orchestration. Band in a Box has been the real deal for me as a songwriter. I use the daw, Studio One Pro. John

Hi, John. As Mario said, nice pop! Clay's harmonies really make this work. I enjoyed the song - nicely done!.

Hi, I'm new to this forum and just wanted to say that I very much like the song!
Essential: Band-in-a-Box. DAW: Reason (formerly GarageBand). Interface: Focusrite. I only wish I had had all this stuff available when I was young …

I've got many nice melodies from dreams, even several "new" songs from my favorite artists. Our subconscious minds are creative And your "Eagles" song is really catchy. The band and the vocalist make this song really drive fast forward on her way. Very pleasant upbeat pop rock song, definitely worth a lot of radio play. Janne

Hi John
Yes, when the moment of inspiration strikes you need to get it down quickly. I know I’ve woken up in the wee small hours humming something and thought, I’ll remember that in the morning…nup!!…gone.
Clay has done a great vocal and the harmony is terrific. You’ve done a great job with the mix and you’ve worked the lyrics really well. I was going to say that it doesn’t sound like the Eagles, but there are places when I thought yeah, like the harmonies, they would do that.
Good song John, kind regards.

Thank you, DC, I am happy that you enjoyed it! Welcome, Opur, I am happy you enjoyed it, too! Hey, Janne, I'm taking a good guess that you have many wonderful and beautiful melodies! I'm going to look up some more of yours as you likely have everything from following a structured formula to the experimental...the sign of a true artist. Thank you for the warm compliments on my song! K-Dub...your first impression is right, not quite like the Eagles, even thought that's what came through before I awoke. When I went into Band in a Box, I decided to look for instrumentation that would be more like the Pure Prarie League's "Amie." I did learn that if I get a really good melody, to get up and write it down no matter what time it is! I've made the mistake of falling asleep thinking I could keep it in my head. Nope!

Hi John! This song is great, and as others have said, Clay's vocal and harmonies are wonderful, but they have to be based on a good melody, words and backing - so good on you for coming up with a ripper. That band has a good pumping/chugging sound but it doesn't sound tired or cliched. I can hear a bit of Little River Band in the song - I think it's the vocal harmonies. Good song! Andrew PS If you are interested in a song with a similar title (but completely different style), try Neil Finn's 'She will have her way' and your title captured my curiosity because of this Neil Finn song ( YouTube)

Thank you, Andrew! Wonderful to see you again! Very true about the base words and music as the foundation for a song and all else is the icing on the cake. You have a great sense of melody and you likely know what it's like to have a cracking original melody come to mind and, as you work on it, the more you realize it's a hit. Little River Band, eh? That's quite the compliment! John

Getting weird here, John. Your last song Rainflakes you posted when I was remastering one called Rainin'. One of my most recent songs (not posted) is She's Got A Way.
Man, this one is so cool. I love those harmoinies and lyrics. The melody is perfect too. I can hear how it would wake you up. You also crafted the erfect band to deliver it all. Excellent mix and fun to listen to --much enjoyed.

Good song, good vox, good use of BIAB. FIvrr vocalist did well. I used to use Fivrr a lot before Suno. Suno at $10 a month and practically unlimited songs is much cheaper than the $50-100 or more per song fivrr vocalists want. But if you want to avoid AI on principle, I guess it's a good option.

Thank you, Marty! It's one of those tunes I couldn't let get away. I'm still working on putting up songs that have the same titles as yours! Moooorrrraaahhh-hahahahaha!!! Just joking. I don't know how it happens but I have had a few coincidences like that, too. It's like we all get together and say, "Okay, boys, here's what we're all going to post!"

Thank you, TM. I've read a lot about Suno and it's still uncharted territory because of copyright issues. It looks like the difference is royalty-free vs. non royalty-free. Suno is attempting to gain royalty-free rights with Warner Bros. but I think things are still iffy. Band in a Box and some AI sites like Audimee have royalty-free databases where the artists who perform the notes are paid, and you provide your original words and music. Suno has a database of deconstructed but still registered copywritten music and that's where the legal problems are. When you put up your own original music, that too goes into its database. It's still the wild west out there in AI territory! I have read from a Broadjam member that another site, Ace Studio, may solve many of those issues but I'll have to look into that more.
