Hi everyone! This is a Dutch song that I seriously hesitated to post here. Because I know songs in other languages aren't so populair. Especially with complicated topics. You don't understand them, and reading the translation is a hassle.

So why posting it anyway? That's because of Marty. He said he would stalk me if I didn't. And nobody wants that! crazy

A brief explanation of the song: It's about a far-right politician in the Netherlands whose power is waning. I had already written the song for October, when there were general elections, but he gained too much support then. So releasing it wasn't a good idea. Meanwhile, there are other elections in march, but now his power have crumbled. So, a new change for this song!
My backup singer Tamar, sings along enthusiastically, even with some strange sounds thrown in.
The lyrics are in SoundCloud, also a translation in English grin

I hope you like it,
Hans

Hans, wow, this sounds GREAT! Super vocals by you and Tamar. I especially like how you selectively layer your own vocals for dynamic effect. You've really squeezed some cool sounds out of BiaB, too. Can't figure out how you got the "clip clop" and oscillating synth sounds out of BiaB, but they are great accents and work perfectly for this song. Great mix and master, too.

Very cool song. Hope Marty doesn't stalk you, though knowing Marty, that might be fun for both of you. smile

Hi Hans!
I’ve always loved songs with good rhythmic styles, like ska and reggae, and I couldn’t stop my foot from tapping on this one either. Some really good instrumentation choices you’ve used on this one which added value to the subject matter. It’s amazing how much fodder our current politics can provide for songwriting - if it weren’t so tragic. The vocals of you and Tamar also add a bit of frenzy to the song style.
I loved listening to this - well done!
Andrew

I usually don't watch videos, but this is one song where I think it's compulsory. Great tune, Hans, with terrific energy and a lot of fun elements (door closing sound effects). I stil think your productions are sounding particularly good since the new studio. Thanks for including the English lyrics. I'm very used to using Google Translate and have no problem doing so, but I appreciate you eliminating that step for us. I wasn't familiar with this guy (I know nothing about Dutch politics) but I'm glad he's being shown the door if he's a buddy of Netanyahu. Again, great song, super energy and super creative as we've come to expect from you.

Hi Ron, thanks for your reply. It's always fun to imagine how you figure out my songs.
And so it's not surprising that you got stuck on that "clip- clop" sound. I wasn't surprised at all.
I simply forgot to mention that I used sound effects/loops from Logic Pro 12. I often do that in my songs because it gives them more dynamics, and BiaB doesn't have those kinds of loops.
But poor you, figuring out in BiaB with hollow eyes how I managed to do that... Sorry!

And about Marty: he's promised to be nice to me from now on...
Nice day,
Hans

Hans,

What an excellent protest song! Great arrangement, groove and an awesome mix. I love your vocals here and combined with Tamar give the song a kind of urgency. Great selection of tracks as well and a great video.

This is the whole package - LOVED IT!

Hans, I don't need to understand the vocal to know if it is a good song or not and this is a great song.

I listened to your song again and I like it even more.
Of course, I don't understand the subtle nuances in your lyrics because my Dutch isn't that good, but with the English translation it works for me.
You've added some cool sound effects that make the song much more interesting and work well.
I agree with TuneMonger, your new studio is really paying off, your mixes are getting better and better with every song.

Enjoyed my listens smile[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]

I loved the video and the song, which are very funny, and I think I recognize the far-right Dutch politician.

Haha, Andrew! Maybe you could tap on his head?
And I agree, something must have gotten into (or out of) many people's minds. Just today I read an article saying that populist politicians rarely care about people, only about themselves. And people who vote for them become disappointed, reject them, but then vote for a similar populist again. So people's ability to learn seems to be declining... They don't want to learn, they just want to be disappointed.
Sorry, for too much politics here...
Thanks for your so nice comment on the song!

Hi Rob, I'm so glad you did it this time! I know it's complicated for someone who doesn't live in this small country. And he is not yet gone, in about 2 weeks we know for sure. Then there will be elections.

I was going to sing this song with another singer, but she didn't dare for fear of her windows being smashed. My wife isn't happy too about me having released the song. So, if you don't hear from me anymore, you know what happened ;-)
And that's Martys' fault, with his stalking...

Ah, this old song again. Haha. I say that from under the bus where you threw me, Hans. You misunderstood, my good man. I said it would raise your stock in the music world. Still right about that. Anyway, yes, I think this is terrific. For those who don't know Dutch as well as I do can still understand the meaning. You convey a common feeling felt 'round the world these days, and present it with the comic twist it deserves. At least your guy is out the door.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi Bob, I just congratulated you and Joliz (a minute ago) on your song "Drift too far"! I think I missed it somewhere.
But thanks also for your comment on my Dutch song, especially your words in all caps :-)
I think Tamar will have the biggest smile on her face when she hears this!

Hi Hans, as others have said, a really fine toe tapper and the language barrier didn’t hinder the song. I don’t mind lampooning Pollies….they deserve it, some more than others. Disappointed DT didn’t get a gong in it though!

Great song Hans.

Hi Mario, you're right! You don't have to understand the language to enjoy a song. Although I'm always curious if there is a story in the lyrics or not.
But luckily, not everyone is like that. Thanks for your compliments, Mario!

Hi Brain, I'll start with your last comment about Marty. You're absolutely right; even if you live far away from that man, you never know for sure. He has contacts all over the world. But the strangest thing is: everyone loves that man, even me!!!
I'm really glad you were able to find the translation of the lyrics. I think you must have heard of him. He wants more AfD too. I hope you don't...

I appreciate your compliments on the song. but I have to admit the new studio wasn't built when the song was made. The remix was, though. Singer Tamar has never been there yet. I don't have suitable tracks for her to sing on... yet...

Hi Laurent, thank you very much! And great that you know of that man. In your country there is also a lot going on. When will you sing about it?

Thanks for listening!

Wow, the arrangement and instrumentation in this song is really incredibly good! A really enjoyable ride, even though Satanyahoo gets a mention! laugh
Danish Jan Oberg who founded the Transnational Foundation for Peace & Future Research is an FB contact, so I hear a lot about the far right there and neighbouring lands. The Foundation has come up with really good new systems for peace talks and solving other international squabbles, but when they've managed to get a UN meeting, foreign ministers appear to introduce their representatives and then vanish as they have no interest in peace and their rep's are only there to report back how 'dangerous' the new ideas for peace talks are for the arms trade and secret services! laugh The artificial world is insane and the politicians are crazier!

Hans, I share your feelings to have other native language then English. It's so refreshing hear other languages here. I also tried to serve my originally songs written in Finnish with translation into English, but I end up lost in translation. Something missing in the rhythm, rhymes and the sound of the lyrics. I liked your song, but maybe you should once more remix it to get more clearity. I have a bad tendency to use too much reverberation and delay to sort of hide my weak vocals and same time giving it more power, but ending up to a muddy sound. I try to get rid of it and trust more to my natural clang of my voice.

We enjoyed hearing you sing in your language and appreciate the translation.

Rocking band and the piano is great.
Sound effects are cool.
Good video (like the real clips)

You and Tamar blend well and both give the song oomph.

With politics everywhere these days it seems that having a wry sense of humor is the key to not letting the politicians steal our joy.
😊

Great write, vocals and mix.

Enjoyed it!

Excellent piece Hans. I would not hesitate to post these quality songs Hans. The melody in your vocals and well crafted backtrack are great listens. Like I said on your Facebook post. I was able to somewhat follow along with the english version of your lyrics. Well done
