I am working on a song which some people probably remember, “Walk Away René.“ It’s the Left Bank version.

This song is kind of a folk rock song. As always, I’m having trouble with the ending.

I don’t like the robotic auto endings because they drag on too long and they sound like too much fanfare.

Somebody had showed how to make an ending that was very simple. The technique just involved making the last court a “shot.“ The trouble with that, if you remember the song, is that the one shot is too abrupt. Needs a softer place to land.

What I’d like to do is have the instruments literally just sustain the chord. But of course, with Real Tracks the Real Track “hold” players complete their ditties instead of just holding a chord. At least that’s my experience.

So what do I do to get a decent sustain without a lot of musical fanfare?

Thanks for your help.

Michael.
