You can assign that location in Options.

So if you really screwed up, maybe even a week ago, there's still hope!

WOW - that there is good news that I did not know!!!

I had seen that in the Options, but I totally misinterpreted the capability.

When I just now checked my Realband\RBBackup folder, there were tons of .BKS files dating back to the start of my current projects and beyond, all with identical file names of the originals with a _1, _2, _3 incremental addition to the end of the original file names and a .BKS extension. This is EXACTLY what I was seeking!!!

I looked in the RB PDF manual, and after a search, there it was in plain sight. Duh - another case of the typical RT$#@%$M situation....

I checked the settings preferences and the manual in BIAB and apparently there is no such capability for backups as there is in RB. (Or else it's there and I can't find it). If it's not there, then that would be a great addition to BIAB, IMHO.

Thanks to PG Music for putting that capability into RB, and thanks very much rharv for bringing this to my attention.

And once again, thanks so much to all here who participated in this thread. Your expertise with these very complex programs RB and BIAB amazes me and I appreciate your sharing some of that expertise with me, a total rookie.

All the very best,
BluegrassPicker

UPDATE EDIT:
For those of us who might be interested, I checked my BIAB and RB 2022 folders on a different drive that I've been keeping since my upgrade to 2026, and there were many .BKS files there of previous projects and experiments dating back to 2021! So the bottom line is that my RB configuration was such that it kept backups based on the number specified in the configuration setting and with no apparent regard for maximum file date or time. That's good to know. Thanks again everyone.
