Ive noticed that when I play back a song in RB the line that moves with the track is staggering and I havent seen this before.After a time it even stops and then tries to catch up causing the song to break up.Would this be a latency problem and if so why now.Cheers Frankie

AHA the old staggering scroll line. This should be in the RB forum. I have extensive experience with this.It was a long time back. Do a search for my posts and see if you can find it. I'll do the same but in the mean time I'll give you some tips.
1. make sure that the track view is the focus.
For me I had to do 2 things to fix the issue. If I only did 1 thing it did not work. Here's what I have to do on my computer:
1. Disable hyperthreading in the BIOS
2. Prefs/audio "audio I/O thread set to " discrete thread-normal"

If John's suggestions don't help (and they probably will), do you have a wireless Internet connection? I've often seen that cause 'staggering' playback. One way to observe if this is the case is to download and run the excellent utility, DPC Latency Checker. http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtmlThe instructions on that page are clear, and it should help you find the problem if a device driver is causing it.

Cool.
Your machine may be new enough that it doesn't use hyperthreading.
As for what Matt said that is also important. At least for me. My setup is sort of unique in that I'm using multiple WDM outs with a Creative A2ZSNB but using KX drivers. My screen layout is such that I have 3 partial screens showing. If the cursor on the tracks view reached the end at the same time as the cursor on the chord sheet the load of both pages turning at once would cause my soundcard to go out of sync with itself. Creating a seperate hardware profile disabling the network card and what else was not needed fixed this. HW profiles is an excellent tool and often overlooked.
