Started this idea a year ago. It sat for much of that.
The last couple days the rest of it seems to be coming to me. Hadn't thought about in a year, then boom it pops back in my head. Weird.
Just a couple minutes of structure and ideas so far, but RB is fun!

A great funky groove, but you'll have to pick the tempo up a bit if I'm gonna dance to it.

yeah, 'let's dance' can mean a few things on this side of the pond ..
maybe I should change it to "C'mon now" ..
It's still early stages and I don't care if all the Lyrics change eventually, just a fun idea in RB ..

To be honest, I didn't listen closely to the lyrics and going back today I find the link has gone. Ha, maybe I said something inappropriate?

I guess I am late to the party. But I do understand having fun with music! You just posted this in a area I don't often visit - so I missed it first time around. If you put it back up I will be sure to weigh in.

Fact is in the past months I have found a new mantra in my life. Came to me a bit when i was reviewing old VanMorrison albums - he has a song called "Born to Sing - No Plan B". Not wanting to be to overly melodramatic, but with age creeping up, the passing of my wife and the changes in my life, I have coined a new phrase which has given me new direction - "Retired to Sing - No Plan B". No one is more surprised than me, that at this time in my life, my music has come to be my primary priority. And the fact that my voice is taking the center stage! Who would have ever guessed. crazy I started weekly vocal lessons back on Jan 2, 2026 and each day I wake up with the thought - what will I sing today. So I am having "fun with music every day". Rharv - sorry if it may appear that I redirected your thread to "me", but your thread helped me better appreciate how fun music can and should be in all our lives. Please go ahead and repost! grin

Cheers all.

Eh, it's about 1.5 minutes of an idea and another of rambling ..
Raw tracks, no production or anything.

The word Eclectic comes to mind. ...selecting, combining, or using elements from a wide variety of sources, styles, or systems rather than sticking to one single approach ... implies a diverse, inclusive, and often creative blend.

A smorgasbord of sounds and ideas just waiting to be further developed and refined. Ya say this has been sitting for over a year? Perhaps its time to have some more fun and see where you can take this. grin Thanks for sharing.

I got a listen now too. Eclectic Funk, without limitations.
I liked it. Yep, that was fun.

The sax solo has a very "Freedom Rider" by Traffic feel to it. The piano/vocal transition was jarring at first, but after a couple of listens, I liked it.

That was exactly the intent
The sax lulls you and then ... but somehow, to me anyway, it all fits together
Then the sax chills it out again.
Thanks!

The guy I normally jam with said 'I need to digest those chords for a bit'
/LOL, when I can throw him back on his heels .. smile
