The brook gives life a soothing sound, the wind can make you smile. There is everything we need right here with all the sights and sounds. You can close your eyes and see them. Small wonders all around. There are trees and flowers growing wild. The streams keep them alive. And if we will help to feed them, they'll thrive. Small wonders bring big thrills and paint the day with awe. The birds and bees that take to flight make a cold heart thaw. When the Sun shines down or clouds drop rain it's still the same playground. You can close your eys, enjoy them. Small wonders all around. There is nothing that could take away the magic of this place, We can savor this enchanting showcase. Small wonders all around take our breath away. The little things that make us pause can brighten everyday. When we wake up in this wonderland we feast on what we see. Hi Marty! Great band and style choice here. The swing muted feel is almost hypnotic. Excellent arrangement - loved the solo and those stops! It was only towards the end I realised we were celebrating small wonders in a minor key - so what? That’s another wonder. Enjoyed it immensely! Andrew

Great piece of music, loved the pipa and the percussion. Vocal is always tops. Good way of looking at life, except when the country you live in is threatening to annihilate another civilization. Kind of hard to appreciate nature when you got that stuff hovering over the world.

Cool, ethereal and more than a bit spooky. Am picturing an animated Disney monster dancing around while singing this with gleeful irony. Can't get the video out of my head...
Great vocals, super arrangement, perfect band and MONSTROUS outro. Oops, there I go again.
Super song!

Hi Marty. You grabbed my attention the minute your band started playing. This is such an infectious sound (in a very good way). I love the relaxed swing groove. I also love the sentiment of these lyrics. It's life's "small wonders" that matter. They are so easy to overlook and take for granted, especially in this world at the moment. I enjoyed this: the music, the lyrics, the arrangement, the mix and your singing --Noel

A very positive song. You're right, I'm going to stop watching television and listen to your songs instead. The video is very well done, and I loved the young Japanese woman playing a musical instrument (very relaxing). Thank you Marty for this breath of fresh air! Laurent

This is a really beautiful song, Marty. The instrumentation is exceptional, plus lyrically and theme-wise it's exceptional. I love it! Definitely one of your best.

Your percussion section is almost hypnotic. I really like that. Of course, I really LOVE the lyrics - you’re singing about something that’s very close to my heart. And you do it really well. Enjoyed my listens a lot ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/images/icons/default/thumbs_up.gif)

A really well sorted arrangement on this one Marty. That and a life lesson to appreciate all the beauty that surrounds us. Exceptional lyrics. A lot of thought put into the fine details, like the chimes etc.
Well done Marty, made me stop and think. Kind regards.

Love everything about this! Thanks, Bob. It's nice to inspire Mr. Inspiration. Much appreciated. Hi Marty! Great band and style choice here. The swing muted feel is almost hypnotic. Excellent arrangement - loved the solo and those stops! It was only towards the end I realised we were celebrating small wonders in a minor key - so what? That’s another wonder. Enjoyed it immensely! Andrew Thanks, Andrew. Hypnotic, mesmerizing (yet with consciousness) is a good way to absorb the wonders mentioned. Yep, minor keys play in my head while walking through the forest. A flatted 3rd seems to be more humble and respectable of the experience. Great piece of music, loved the pipa and the percussion. Vocal is always tops. Good way of looking at life, except when the country you live in is threatening to annihilate another civilization. Kind of hard to appreciate nature when you got that stuff hovering over the world. Thanks, Bob. Yeah, you mention a rather LARGE wonder. Man... kind... Nature and music are the respite. i figure this is my part. You're right though, i fell like Nero or something. Cool, ethereal and more than a bit spooky. Am picturing an animated Disney monster dancing around while singing this with gleeful irony. Can't get the video out of my head...
Great vocals, super arrangement, perfect band and MONSTROUS outro. Oops, there I go again.
Super song! Haha, thanks, Ron. I'm trying but can't see the monster. That's when they get ya though. I guess as long as it's a Disney monster we're safe.

Hi, Marty. It's a lovely reminder to slow down and take in what we take for granted. It's an interesting approach to use minor chords on a pleasant peaceful theme and it works like a Moody Blues song, and that's a very good thing. The tempo compliments the feeling of slowing down to look around. Very nice work! John

Marty,
Early April is cherry blossom season in Japan. There are rows of cherry trees in almost every town, and we enjoy this season every year. Watching your video, although it's different from cherry blossom viewing, I felt a deep connection to the same spirit. The country-style music fit the video perfectly, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to it.
Best regards.

Hi Marty,
I remember you playing the song for me a while ago, as a concept. After that, I thought you had never finished it. A beautiful song, which actually just meanders a bit, with that tabla and pipa (and of course the other instruments). I had already made a comment about it a few months ago, but you enjoy it every time. So I think it's great that you used those exotic instruments in it. That is the beautiful accent that makes it a sweet, sparkling song.

First Noel's A World Of Wonder and now Marty's Small Wonders, all excellent feel good, upbeat folky music. The message hits straight to my heart, "the magic of this place" & "Small wonders bring big thrills and paint the day with awe.", we NEED this positive attitude and spiritual connection to the things that really matters, small but the most fundamental wonders The band is really lovely, magical atmosphere, I'm really glad to hear Pipa, it really highlights how the wonders are worldwide. The vocals are full of warmth and positive confidence. And I absolutely LOVE your video, the fairy-tale mood, happiness and beautiful nature with flowers, and of course all those birds It should have millions of views if there was any justice in the world. This is your most important song to me, it fully shows your dazzling songwriting talent and your kindness as a person. Janne

Yeah, i do get carried away in the percussion tracks, especially in a song like this. i never use -or almost never use-- any of the preset tracks in EZD because i like writing them myself. A really well sorted arrangement on this one Marty. That and a life lesson to appreciate all the beauty that surrounds us. Exceptional lyrics. A lot of thought put into the fine details, like the chimes etc.
Well done Marty, made me stop and think. Kind regards. Thanks, Lee. Glad you liked the chimes too. It just seemed appropriate there. Marty. I love the natural images and the instrumental tones. I think your vocal can come up a couple of dbs.
Vic Thanks, Vic. My vocal should never come up --that's why i like to sing behind a wall of sound. Hi, Marty. It's a lovely reminder to slow down and take in what we take for granted. It's an interesting approach to use minor chords on a pleasant peaceful theme and it works like a Moody Blues song, and that's a very good thing. The tempo compliments the feeling of slowing down to look around. Very nice work! John Thanks, John. I like the Moody Blues connection. This one needed a minor key to keep the mood receptive --if that makes any sense.

“Small wonders all around take our breath away. The little things that make us pause can brighten everyday.”
OH YES!!
This is great, Marty, and we are reminded every morning by this quote pasted on the frig door: “Always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder.”
It’s a very joyful band to accompany the delightful lyrics and your vocal is soothing. A lso, the pipa is very cool.
We enjoyed the appearance of your smiling face in the video too. Nice open mix. Cool soundstage on the monitors.
Enjoyed it!

I can't tell you how much you were in my thoughts while making this one, knowing how much you also apprecate rocks and trees. Cool song Strong vocals Nice use of BIAB. Very Cool Band. This is how I feel when I'm in nature or watching a bee collect nectar or looking at the mountains here in Virginia. I really like the melody: engaging with a slight touch of awesome mystery.
