Good advice Notes, The good thing about putting the PC into Hibernation mode is you can still unplug at the wall, but still have a fast startup in under half a minute, when you switch on again.

I would compare it to saving in a game, rather than starting the whole game over again.

A proper shutdown every week or so is a good thing too to clear all the miss-behaving gremlins as you say.

Try the Hibernation mode if you haven't already done so, to see if it makes a difference to startup time.

I always seem to learn something new about computers even though I have used for a long time now.
