Hello, forum friends

My second post of the year is a jazz waltz featuring female vocals and a piano trio.
Recently, stem separation has become much easier, making it simple to re-edit previously unbalanced mixes.
This time, I used Steinberg's SpectraLayers to remix my old recordings.
The software can un-mix stereo sources into 5 tracks (Vocal, Piano, Bass, Drums, and others.)
Therefore, it is possible to fix the bad balance of the sound sources.
Any comments encouraged.
Always welcome.

Best regards.

Shigeki Adachi

Title: 失恋ワルツ(Translation; Heartbreak Waltz)

Vocal: Natsuki Yoshikawa, our local female jazz vocalist
Piano: Miya Nakajima, our local female jazz pianist.

Link:
https://soundcloud.com/animarorecords/heartblake-waltz-2026remix

Style is J~WLZTRI.STY: Jazz Waltz Trio
Style MIDI Instruments are : Acoustic Bass (33)
MIDI Drums :41 Brushes Kit (41)
All instruments played with EastWest Goliath.

Summary of lyrics

Taking light steps
I just experienced heartbreak
There are no words of farewell
Only my feelings remain

Straightening my back and puffing out my chest
I pretend to be calm
When I stop at the traffic light
I see myself reflected in the window

My whole body is wet
With my tears overflowing
I want to turn around, but you're far behind
I can hear your voice slightly

Taking light steps
I start walking straight ahead
Your voice disappeared into the crowd
And it won't reach me anymore

I'm taking the warmth you gave me off one by one
I don't look back
You're far behind
You're no longer here

Taking light steps
I'll only look ahead and go
Once I take off these leaden shoes
I'll never be able to wear them again

Taking light steps
I just experienced heartbreak

Excellent waltz melody sung by a very good vocalist. The piano solo was exceptional! And you did this with BIAB and Goliath, which is East West's "budget" all-in-one package. Very impressive, as we've come to expect from you. I also appreciate the translated lyrics, which were typically contemplative and high-quality. A very enjoyable listen!

A beautiful production with also beautiful vocals and amazing jazz piano. I was recently talking with a Filipina fan of Chinese and Japanese songs, particularly those which appear in movie soundtracks. What's always impressive is how poetic the lyrics are compared to in Western songs. This song is a classic example of that.

Some favourite Waoist Adages:
#1: Play on the Way.
#13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you.
#58: Bring consciousness to it.
#63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made.
#92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Shigeki Adachi,
I don't know what the original mix sounded like, but this one seems worth the effort and time it took to separate the audio tracks and remix it.
Very good song, very good mix.
Enjoyed my listen smile[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]

Great job on the jazzy waltz, Shigeki. The melody weaves through the beat with an exciting feel. Man, you surround yourself with talent, Professor. Natsuki Yoshikawa is a very engaging vocalist. Strong talent. I could listen to Miya Nakajima all day and night long. Reminds me of the nights at the Deer Head listening to Johnny Coates and Phil Woods. I have this wonderful piece of music on a loop. Can't get enough.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi Shigeki,

When starting my listen to your song, my heart stood still (for a nano second). My Chinese isn't what it was.
Heartbroken! A nice title for this wonderful song.
Great vocals and also great pianoplay, or in Chinese: 人聲和鋼琴演奏都很出色。

This is truly a lovely waltz. And you can't often say that about this genre.

Were some of the other instruments from BiaB, or did you use them from your DAW? I do that regularly.

Very well done!
Hans

Shigeki, another outstanding song from your Repertoire of Masterpieces.
The pianist and singer are fantastic together. You did an outstanding job blending them with BiaB tracks.

Wow!

What a lovely performances by the vocalist and pianist.
The stem separation and the final selection of tracks is great.
And the mix sounds so good on our monitors.
Great sound stage, open, airy and very nice subtle dynamics.

Perfection!

I am truly grateful to the vocalist and the pianist.

By the way, thank you for your comment in Chinese, but I am Japanese.
However, please don't worry about the mistake.
I myself also often get Europeans' countries wrong.

Regarding your question, the piano is a grand piano in the recording studio that our music circle frequently uses. It's YAMAHA.
The drums and bass are BIAB (MIDI).
I am always very encouraged by your kind words.

Hi Shigeki Adachi.

You've done it again! Absolutely superb music and truly wonderful listening. There can be no doubt about it, you are a master songwriter, arranger and producer. This remix was definitely worth the effort. I also compliment Natsuki Yoshikawa on her excellent vocals, and Miya Nakajima's jazz piano playing was first-class. You know some very, very talented people

It never stops ceasing to amaze me just how very skillful you are.
