It is a very clean, relatively simple piece and I prefer it that way. There’s space and clarity for each instrument. To me guitar played in this manner is at its purest and most resonant, but the trade off is that mistakes are obvious. I agree, the cello gives it an extra dimension without getting in the way of the guitar, I really enjoyed adding this to the song compared to a violin that was totally at odds with how I foresaw the song.
