Help! Tech S.O.S (Off topic)

I have started to shut down. Any saving I can make on electricity is welcome in the UK and the monitor stays on standby if I send the PC to sleep This is quite ironic, isn't it. For years the UK government has been nagging us to turn off everything when it's not in use because "even that little red LED results in lots of wasted electricity". Now they're encouraging us to buy electric cars that typically charge at 7.4kW overnight. They seem to have forgotten about nagging. I'm told we now have the most expensive energy in the world.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.
