Oh, so good. Bob, you are a superb story teller. And, wow, a great presenter of stories. Lvoe the narrative approach on this one. Joliz's voice is the perfect background for the story and the perfect accompaniment for the chorus.

Great story, 'lawn chair with ambition' really got me. I sure remember Blood on the Tracks, what a resurrection it was for Dylan. Guitar solos were solid, Another good 'un!

Hi Bob and Joliz! Your songs are like a microscope on the human condition, and you help the listener realise that we can experience the same things but in a different context. I too like the ‘lawn chair with ambition’ line, and also:
‘You said, you disappear too easy I said, yeah… but you always come looking’
It speaks of being valued as person when another seeks you out, like saying ‘I like being with you’ or ‘I care about you’. Andrew

Cool slow burn, Bob. Super vocals by you and Joliz. Love the way the narrative evolves. LOVE your lead guitar work, too.
Crisp mix. Nice arrangement that sustains interest without breaking the hypnotic spell. The unresolved ending is a nice bookend to the opening guitar part.
"...You always come looking."

Bob,
The spoken word portion is absolutely wonderful. The contrast with the singing portion is very effective. The selection of timbres for each instrument is also superb. Enjoyed my listen a lot.
Best regards.

Bob, this is a delightful song, very pretty with the feel of an early 70s song by Kent LaVoie (Lobo). The reflective, pensive, slow melody is lovely and memorable. Lyrically, a touching story. This is one of the few where a spoken part in a song works wonderfully. Vocals are delightfully earthy, like Melanie Safka. Expertly written! John

Bob and Joliz, this is absolutely an outstanding masterpiece. Loved the blend of the vocal chorus and the spoken word Bob, you are one of the best story tellers via music that I have ever heard. Super chops also Loved it

Hi Bob. I listen and think, John Prine. Excellent real life lyric. I think an acoustic guitar strum would fit right in on the chorus.

Once again, a good story, well told. And I LOVE all those little details and effects that you and Joliz added to the main instruments. Cool stuff ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/images/icons/default/thumbs_up.gif)

Brilliant lyrics, brilliantly performed; perfect instrumentation and arrangement, plus brilliant Jo-Jo harmony vocals. Definitely one of your best, Bob!
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #58: Bring consciousness to it. #63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Hi Bob and Joliz,
Some have already said it here, and I will do the same: you are a great storyteller. And you keep listening until the end, and also enjoy the atmosphere you both manage to create. Very good. I had the same expression as Rob (Tunemonger): a garden chair with ambition. That indeed stood out immediately, because it is also very funny!
The solo guitar in between, but also that steel guitar, gives the whole thing a really nice atmosphere.
Very well done, you both! Hans

Kudos for the choice of style with that great-sounding bass and the steel pedal in the background. The chorus is excellent, with the vocals giving way to the bass; we wish we could hear it a little longer. The vocals, the steel pedal, and the bass give this song a beautiful atmosphere. The chorus shows, once again, that you can make great songs with simple elements. Laurent

“We used to play Bob Dylan On that old machine that chewed up tapes “Tangled Up in Blue” Over and over You said every song was about leaving I said that wasn’t true”
That is so visual. We can see the protagonists and the tape player. Janice said she was getting a Lou Reed vibe.
You are so good at “talking blues.” We feel like you’re in the same room as us. 😊
Joliz is providing some cool ambiance. Great mix and we much liked the solo.
Excellent!

Another great outing from our resident poet laureate. The story is as real as it gets. You have been expanding your instrumentation arrangements. This is a gem.
