I shut my computer fully down when I'm not using it mostly because, I think to myself, I know what it's like to feel like you are sleeping very shallowly and wake up feeling like you didn't actually sleep. I know computers and people are different but I like to give my computer a break. I'm fortunate that my computer reboots and is functional in about a second. I don't have to really wait for it to power on.
Thankfully lightning storms aren't really something we see where we are. Since I moved here 15 or so years ago I think I have seen lightning once or twice. Still, you can never be too careful.
