Hi All,

Our latest is for a friend in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, on VOWR 800 AM — sending a few unsung songs out into the night…

This is called Rayna On The Radio.

Rayna on the radio
Late night signal low
Somewhere past the harbor line
Where the lost songs go
Static on the dashboard
Headlights on the road
She’s talking through the wires
To someone she don’t know

Rayna on the radio
Play it slow let it go
All those songs nobody knows
On the radio

Kid out in Kansas
With a worn out chord
Woman down in Cork
Still keeping score
She don’t need a reason
She don’t need a name
She just lets ‘em roll
Through the AM rain

Rayna on the radio
Soft and low don’t you know
There’s a place for broken songs
On the radio

Coffee getting colder
Board’s about to blow
But she keeps it moving
Like the river rolls
Every little signal
Trying to survive
She’s keeping something
Out there alive

Rayna on the radio
Don’t let go don’t let go
All those songs that couldn’t stay
Found a place to play

Rayna on the radio
Soft and low don’t you know
All those songs nobody knows
On the radio

Bob, I have said this a million times, you are one of the best story teller set to music that I have ever heard.
You and Joliz have another winner on your hands.
Super vocal and backing vocals
Fantastic lyrics
Your finger picking skills are second to none.
Loved it.

Great song, Bob! "Board's about to blow," love that line. I did some radio in the seventies, had a pretty good DJ voice, but I didn't get very far. AM radio, it was all we had back then, so we loved it. Good memories!

BRAVI!!! Such a small world ... as I've just commented on YouTube, Rayna played one of my own songs on her show, a few days ago, when she returned to the airwaves after a small hiatus.

She's a lovely lady, and I'm sure you made her so happy with this song. The song itself is up to your usual stratospheric standard, no surprises there, in that sense smile Again, well done to the both of you, Bob and Joliz ... you've just put a massive smile on my face! smile

Hi Bob and Joliz!
Such a good theme for a song. I remember growing up my older brother and I listening to AM radio while we were (meant to be) doing our homework - back in ‘74 and ‘75.

Your fingerpicking is really crisp and clear, and I love the way Joliz’s vocal comes in - like the aural equivalent of heat shimmer off a hot road - it also reminded me of sounds down the wire. Really good.

Good video as well - and a cool connection from James (musician17) as well!

Oh, my! You two are so good at these story songs. Man, no one has ever done it better. Outstanding. How do you keep coming up with song after song and every one so darn good? Love this one about Rayna.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Very cool, Bob. Great imagery, a gentle hook, fantastic vocals. Especially love the choir-like harmony parts by Joliz. The backing track is SO perfect. It cradles the song very gently and sounds crisp and clear without being flashy. Just a great sound all the way around...

Rob,

Thanks - we appreciate the kind words.

I also worked as a radio announcer/personality back in the late 70s & early 80s. WALK 97.5 FM/1370 AM. I also did a brief stint at WRIV 1390 AM, which was a sister station to WALK. All located in Eastern Long Island, NY. Hard to believe it was so many years ago!

Thank you again.

The guitar intro is very good for a beautiful song. The black and white video is well done.

What incredible atmosphere! Lyrically in a class of its own again, great mix and production, plus Joliz' plaintive harmony vocals are once again perfect for the song.

This is a wonderful tribute to all the amazing people who keep this small radio stations all over the world running.
Bob, you tell stories like no one else.
It’s great that you’ve found a partner in crime in Joliz who helps you bring all these amazing songs to life.
