Hi all, this is a short instrumental I've done, using BIAB for percussion. Vocal phrasing was from a Kontakt library which I mention in the description. The video is from several days of timelapse photography I did few years back - no AI used here.

An audio version which might sound better is here

Oh, this is so beautiful, Ken. Not just the wonderful composition, but the magnificent time-lapse clips in the video. The tune opens up with them. Mimi's vocal adds so much goodness to the whole.

Thanks Babu wink I'm glad you like it, and appreciate you taking tyhe time to listen and feed back. It was just sort of happy accident that there were parts where the music and video opened and closed together. In fact the video was an afterthought, I only did it because Youtube seems to be the only popular unwalled garden for music, but it requires eye candy, which is kind of a pain because making a video is an extra chore, which if done badly can detract from the whole. I got the music ready - and the BIAB percussion, though subtle, really helped ground it - but then was stuck for video ideas, until I remembered I had gone crazy one summer learning timelapse photography, so I dug out the footage and hoped it would match. By luck and with a bit of nudging, it did smile

Hi Ken!
A wonderful piece, and I agree that Mimi’s vocal via Kontakt adds a very natural/nature sound - sounding Enya-like in parts. I enjoyed the chord progression and the 7ths added on some chords. Was I right in hearing that the bass didn’t enter until the last quarter of the song? Cool.

I watched your YouTube (very good) and listened to Soundcloud - and regarding the latter, you go under the name of St Josephs Social Club - is that just you or a group? I listened to a few of your covers: Peace like a river; For no-one; Rikki…; as well as Eddies and Welcome to Wunderbar. Lots of good music to listen to there.

Andrew

Hypnotic and beautiful. Cool photography. Nicely choreographed musical and visual performance all the way around.

That is such a beautifully immersive piece Ken, both audibly and visually. Parts of the choral elements were reminiscent of gaelic tones as used by Kate Bush. This brilliantly marries the visual beauty of flowers blooming with a well composed piece of music, both big and beautiful.

Great work Ken, kind regards

lingyai, this is an outstanding piece of music and a fantastic video.
Great job on both.

OK, a random thought;
Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?

64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware

Beautiful, both sonically and visually.
The vocals give the whole thing a cool world music vibe, which I really like.

Thanks! Yes, Mimi's great, it's a special library

After I stumbled into the 7ths I decided the project was worth finishing

You are right. I actually struggled with that. At first I had the bass going throughout, which sounded nice at the beginning, but then became same-y. I tried dropping it and then bringing it back, but as soon as it dropped, it sounded like something was missing. So I just saved it for the end and called it a day

That's very kind and validating to hear. Very hard to get views/listens with so much music being uploaded each day, especially on Soundcloud, where listens have all but dried up. St Josephs Social Club is me and whoever I manage to ensnare in a project at a given time.

Thanks very much, I'm glad you liked it. I agree, that choral library has a nice flavour - even though it's a Balkan choir, does at times sound sort of Gaelic... we'll just say "vaguely ethnic" smile It's called Vocalisa (for Kontakt) by Rastsound

Thanks B.D.! I also like that world favour. Plus, since it's a made up language, don't have to worry about the piece being let down by bad lyrics. The fewer things to get wrong, the better

Hey, that is so cool. The video was great and the music fit nicely.

We had some flowers in our garden at the other house and brought them here as well. We called them Moon Flowers. They open in the evening and close when the sun comes up.. Pale yellow and the cool thing was they literally opened completely in about 10 seconds. They would twitch a few times and then open like the video shows but in real time. We found out they are actually pretty invasive weeds but still fascinating plants.
