Is This Funk

Is this funk or is this a rhetorical question?

BiaB style - Funkafy - Slow, Swing, 16 Bluesy
Tempo 95 BPM
I replaced the bass and piano track with these Supermiditracks:
Bass - 3688 - Bass, synth, Funk Jeff - EV110 = sound source - Ample Bass - YinYang - Slap Bass
Piano - 2160 - Piano, Electric, Rhythm = sound source - Kontakt - Clavinet - sterio auto wah
I deleted the balance of the style tracks.

The drum track is from Groovemonkee's funk MIDI loops sound source - SSD-5 - Deluxe Funk 01

I am playing, via my keyboard, the Hollywood Brass tracks (a B-day gift)
Via my breath and keyboard controller the Swam rock flute.
I am also playing the lead guitar track.

Mario,

Great! Yes, this is FUNK! That Swam flute you're playing is so awesome, as is your guitar. Perfect mix.

Loved it!

Hi Mario!
Ooo - I like it! I like it a lot! That derived clavinet sounds really good, and I loved the drums intro. I could’ve sworn you were going to switch to a reggae/funk fusion bridge, but alas - just funk bliss! I reckon that flute player will have blisters on their lips!
Great!
Andrew

So, it's Saturday night, and a music video is filming. These two cats in sunglasses are cruising the crowded city at night in their red '75 Buick LeSabre convertible. A funk tune blasts from the 6x9 coaxials in the front doors, and the bass from the trunk-mounted subwoofer vibrates the rear view mirror in time with the beat. The camera is in the backseat facing forward to capture the packed sidewalk and the oncoming traffic to the right and left. And, of course, the vibrating rear view mirror. The heads of our two cruisers are bobbing in sync with the beat. Occasionally they shake their heads and share a smile, acknowledging the insane time they are having...

Oh, Is This funk? Well, SURE it is. smile

Sheesh!

Well done, Mario!

Is this Funk? Yes, not Mother's Finest, or Tower of Power, and certainly not Parliament Funkadelic, but more like Stevie Wonder. Funk Lite.

Nicely done.

Hi Mario

Expertly done. Great drum intro that leads into a Jethro Tull meets Peter Gabriel playing Sledgehammer vibe. I like to hear instruments that break out of there normal environment and the flute works exceptional well in this funky song.

You certainly do bring fresh ideas to your arrangements Mario, great job. Kind regards, Lee

Just like Herb, I’d classify this as Funk-lite.
Like Jethro Tull accidentally taking the wrong turn and ending up at a disco.
But there's nothing wrong with that, I actually really like your genre-mix.

I resist and resent all strict borders of categories, but this is so funky good, Mario. smile I had to look to see what bass you were using. It sounds great, but see it wasn't you. Jeff Berlin? Man, the way you bring in those "horns" is just perfect. Great guitar and your flute is a show stealer for sure. What a terrific job of getting this all together; it seems a daunting task. And it sounds so good, everything in the pocket. SO to answer your musical question, OH YEAH!!

Enjoy whatever happens!

Lee, I'm glad you liked it. I try to do a lot of different genres. Sometimes they sound OK while other times I don't them!

Thanx Marty. I really like those Hollywood Horns for quickly being to play background horn tracks. I plan on blending them with the Swam solo instruments and string ensembles.
